Rex Kickass
I'm catching bits and pieces on Versus, but I don't watch much. Two Americans in the running though, George Hincapie (a little under 2 minutes back) and Christian Vandevelde (in 4th place, about 44 seconds back.) Anyone else watching? DBAHO
Yeah. Cadel Evans should be the favorite right now. Finished 2nd last year, and he's 2nd at the moment. Got a fantastic chance of being the first Aussie to win.
SoxFan1
The Tour de France is a load of crap.
DBAHO
Because? And yeah you'll say the doping I know. But I still think it's one of the best sporting spectacles we have in the world today.
shipps
I might watch it if they rode on Unicycles.
Felix
I watch it, but I don't follow any of the names or anything along those lines. I just watch because I find it impressive that they can go up those hills at 30 mph, and wish that I could get the 'roids and do it myself. Rex Kickass
The Tour took a hit for me when they sandbagged Landis in 2006, and I seriously think that they did - I do really respect the spectacle. I'd love to see Cadel get the Yellow jersey. Also kind of a fan of George Hincapie too but having lost 10 minutes today, I think he's pretty well out of the running at this point. DBAHO
Evans took a nasty fall on stage 9, but apparently it's only grazes he's got. Still only 6 secs beind Kirchen/
Rex Kickass
The Tour is an awful event to see live. It involves waiting for hours, and seeing the riders for all of a few seconds. I saw the end of the 2003 stage where Lance Armstrong won his fifth straight. If you are in Paris for the final stage, you'll see the riders 10 times because the final stage consists primarily of laps through a route near the Arc de Triomphe. What's horrible is that they don't allow you a view of the podium or stands if you aren't a VIP spectator. Cadel Evans still with the yellow jersey and a 1 second lead. Christian Vandevelde of the US in third and just 38 seconds behind.
DBAHO
Menchov is the main danger I think. I still like Cadel's chances though. So long as he's close when the final time - trial comes around, I think he'll win.
Rex Kickass
It's funny how the mountains are such an important part of the race, but more often than not, it's the time trialers who grab the Yellow Jersey.
DBAHO
It's all about hanging with the Peloton for those guys. More often than not, those mountain climbers can make up so much time on the Pyroneise, but during the time trials / normal races they're just not very good.
