jmk853
Did anyone notice after the game ended yesterday when they showed the players in the Sox dugout it appeared to me that several of them were staring at the Rangers who were on the field? I noticed Don Cooper, I think pretty boy Gavin, Thome and especially Quentin doing this. The thing that really struck me was that this was a good minute or two after the game was over. Generally the guys just head right into the clubhouse after a tough loss. But I really got the feeling they were angry about something. Just curious if anyone else noticed this, and if so any idea what it could have been about?
Jimbo's Drinker
They were probably just as sick of watching Konerko totally suck.
jenksycat
yeah I saw El Los giving them the stink-eye. I was waiting for them to say something about it.
CanOfCorn
I thought that CJ Wilson kinda showed them up a little...so, if I were the Rangers, I would watch out for in your ear next week.
kapkomet
If you're gonna sit there and two batters in a row, who are supposed to be your best, watch strike three, you deserve to get "shown up". At least swing at the damn ball.
whitesoxfan101
The only thing they should be embarassed about is the brand of baseball they played yesterday when Texas was batting. Don't worry about the other team, just win and they won't show you up. Edited July 15, 2008 by whitesoxfan101
witesoxfan
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) They were probably just as sick of watching Konerko totally suck. Yeah his Saturday performance was just pitiful...GTFO They were probably pissed off about the fact that they lost a game they should have won; when you score 11 runs, you will win 19 out of 20 games. So yeah, I'd be pissed, and I hope they come out in the second half with a bang and pound the piss out of some people.

IlliniKrush
I don't have a quote, but a Texas newspaper quoted Wilson as saying he got fired up after he heard Ozzie talking s*** to him from the dugout. I have no reason to believe he is lying...so, if true, that's pretty damn classless by Ozzie. You don't need a manager talking trash to a player while he's pitching. That's pretty retarded. Can't really blame Wilson for shoving it back at him. Edited July 15, 2008 by IlliniKrush
greg775
Krush there's two sides to every story. Hopefully the media will ask Oz his side. Texas has beat the piss out of the Sox in Arlington for a while now. The Sox should bean the leadoff hitter in the series in The Cell. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 14, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) No, I will continue to say the return of Konerko is the worst thing to happen to this team. And I'll continue to say that if Paul Konerko plays like he should - .850-.900 OPS - it will be the best offensive addition to any team in the majors, barring a superstar being traded. greg775
The Konerko hate is so disappointing. We know Konerko haters ... you want him gone. And if for some reason he gets hot you haters will just be all happy and forget the venom you spouted. A lot of us were pissed at Thome. He's been pretty hot of late. So everybody's happy and has already forgotten how they bagged on Thome. I doubted Thome; I admit it. But I didn't bury him. Why bury Paulie? How do you know he's not going to rebound?? Greg Hibbard
So the stats of Konerko's past 70 games mean more to you than the 1500 games of his career? I don't get it - this guy is the definition of a high-variance hitter and in every year but one in his career he's averaged out over the course of a season to be well above average. The season that he's injured suddenly he's totally worthless and has absolutely no future. Seriously, take a step back and think about this for a second. It makes very little sense to abandon Konerko at this point. Three weeks from now, sure.

Yes but thats a bush way of retaliation. I have no problem with a pitcher throwing a hitter if its low and justified. I didnt witness what happened in Texas, i'm just trying to point out that just b/c someone says they need to hit so and so, that doesnt mean they have to go after his head. And frankly, any pitcher who does head hunt I lose a bit of respect for.

Ok, why does Ian Kinsler need to take a beanball, on the body, because some pitcher couldnt handle Ozzie Guillen talking smack? Where is the justification? ChiSox_Sonix
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 01:12 PM) Ok, why does Ian Kinsler need to take a beanball, on the body, because some pitcher couldnt handle Ozzie Guillen talking smack? Where is the justification? Ok lol, I wasnt the one who said he should get plunked. I was merely trying to point out that saying our pitching staff should bean the leadoff hitter does not necessarily mean they should go after his head. I believe the poster that said that meant so to send a retaliatory message of sorts to Texas for something CJ Wilson may or may not have done. I didnt see the game, so I dont know what happened and wasnt trying to interject an opinion on this specific incident. I was basically just trying to convey that there is a difference from saying someone should get beaned and someone should get hit in the head. Apparently, people assume different things when they read that. When i read that someone should get beaned, I assume it means somewhere other than the head, b/c to me that is a different idea altogether. Just my opinion, didnt mean to try and suggest anything else.

If i'm the Sox, i ride this guy from the minute he enters the game next time. You know he's listening.
