Timely HR by Swish and great job by Alexei to blow that game wide open. if the lead was only 6-1 with the bases juiced, this game might've ended differently that's for sure
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Ozzie's 400th managing win. Congrats Oz and continued good hitting by Thome who was 2 for 2 with 2 walks.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) please move alexei up in the lineup and dump Konerko. Konerko hit the ball pretty well tonight. He had a hit and his rbi force out was ripped. Ramirez hit the ball hard just about everytime as well. My man Uribe with 2 doubles. I'm sure if he's in the line-up tomorrow scores will be b****ing.
Dick Allen
What was interesting is when the score was 10-2 and Linebrink on the mound, Jenks was warming up. I'm not convinced Linebrink is healthy.

Thats the position he excelled at before, and can excel at again. He is one of these guys who needs motivation to play well. Resting Crede and giving his back time to heal is not a bad thing. I wouldnt mind seeing Uribe out at 3rd tomorrow. Rest Crede up for the Tigers and Twins. When Crede's back gets messed up, his swing gets long. If it's because of tenderness in Joe's back, then I'd be just fine with it. If it's because Alexei had a manicure at 1:30, then it'd be a different story. I have no problem with attempting to keep a hot bat going; it's when Uribe goes in his 0-for-30 slumps (or so it feels) that he shouldn't be playing in back to back games. It's been proven in the past that a hot Uribe can carry a team for a bit...he just doesn't stay hot enough long enough. Agreed completely on Konerko though...he hit some balls very well tonight and he looked pretty solid last night too. I'd imagine his average will be in the .230s or so come the first week of August. SoxFan1
Last time Crede missed games due to injury was after that rocket off his wrist. He came back after that and absolutely tore it up for a week and a half or so. We could use that again in these upcoming series' vs MIN and DET. So missing the first 2 games of the Dodgers series (20 days after the wrist injury) with a lower back tightness (same thing he has now) followed by a 20 game stretch where he managed a .186/.234/.314/.548 line doesn't count? whitesoxbrian
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) Just got back from the game. Sitting in my seat tonight, it was blatantly obviously this club is clearly dead. The pitching sucks, the offense can't score any runs, and the defense is terrible. THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD Why do you keep coming back to that? The defense had nine 9 errors in the past 5 games, we weren't hitting, we weren't pitching against a bad KC team and a medicore Texas team on the road, and even our coaching/managing was bad. Enough with that. Last time somebody bashed me like this after a game, we went 1-3 from there up to now. I don't know, maybe it comes from the fact that I made that comment and you made a sarcastic post about it. greg775
Dye is such a stud most of the time. Man, great hitting. Mark comes through when we need it. Can you believe Detroit is only 5.5 out?? Wow. There's going to be some amazing baseball coming up on our next road trip. Hope we come to play every night. Paulie may blow ... but he sure could help us out as a veteran power bat if he finally starts hitting on that road trip. This could be a wild 3 team race the rest of the way. Hope we're up to it. Detroit has totally kicked the s*** out of a KC team we were 3-3 with recently. Please win the rubber game vs. Tex, White Sox. Losing 4 of 6 on the homestand could put us in a somber mood heading into Death Row.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 11:18 PM) I don't know, maybe it comes from the fact that I made that comment and you made a sarcastic post about it. PS: Paul Konerko still blows (not towards you Tony, just toward everyone- no need in making a whole new post just to state the obvious). alright, here's how the process goes or has gone player A gets injured...not bad enough to sit, but bad enough that it's a nuisance. player A continues to play, pain continues to manifest, and player A struggles because of it player A takes a bit off, hopes pain goes away, and comes back...pain has apparently not gone away player A continues to hope and pray it goes away and another injury comes up, where player A has to go on the DL player A now rests for a good 20-30 days, letting everything heal player A comes back after having not seen major league pitching in almost a month and is a little rusty, perhaps playing with phantom pain as well player A starts swinging the bat well, but the balls aren't falling yet; player A is also mired in a bit of a slump due to rustiness player A finally starts hitting and seeing the ball well and not just swinging well, but hitting them at people player A is playing well As far as I've ever seen, that's a pretty general synopsis of where Paul Konerko is to this point in the season...it happens. He is at the second to last phase, and if you watched the game tonight, you would have seen that. So yeah, everyone please keep telling me about how badly Paul Konerko sucks, even 3 weeks later when his average has risen 25 points, he's up to 15 homers on the season, and his OPS is up to .735. You did it to me and everyone else for Jim Thome too, even though he was a good player as of about June 1st.
greg775
Good post on Paulie. I know one thing: If we are gonna beat Detroit and Minnie next week, it would help if he becomes the old Paulie. If he would get hot, it'd really help our team since Oz and KW are sticking with him. I don't know why Brian would rip on Paulie in that post. The return of that other post is perilously close to happening. Edited July 23, 2008 by greg775
Harry Chappas
A win today and they are 6-6 against the Royals and Texas.....I guess that ain't that bad. Also I am not certain the Paul Konerko hot streak is a given.
