Balta1701
QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:41 PM) Arm trouble? You mean in 2005 when a liner fractured his tibia? Doc has been the biggest horse in the league for quite some time. If you wouldn't give up Floyd for a Roy Halladay signed under market value for 3 years, you've lost your mind. Even as one of Floyd's big fans...if it was possible to get Halladay without giving up Quentin or Danks I think you don't have much choice. I'd give up Floyd in that one. SoxFan1
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) I dunno, they really did spend their best shot in LaPorta going for CC. Gamel, Escobar, and their top catching spect are still in the fold.

Not to mention Jeffress, who may have the best FB in the entire minors. Although he comes with baggage.
joejoedairy
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) I thought they had a AA shortstop considered to be untouchable who they held in higher regard than LaPorta? They do, Alcides Escobar. But they have another middle infield prospect whos even more untouchable... joejoesox
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 05:27 PM) I believe you guys are thinking of Gamel. John Gamel, John G. How long have I been looking...
Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 04:17 PM) Obviously it's a pipe dream as we don't have the bullets, but WOW it's ridiculous to think about. The Sox have the bullets if they wanted to give up at least one of Danks/Floyd to go with Poreda and Fields (and possibly one more guy). Harry Chappas
The Brewers have 2 Type A free agents so they could reload the farm system quickly. Halladay, Parra, Gallardo next year, yikes This year would be sick with Suppan and Bush coming out of the pen with great control..... hawksox13
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) The Sox have the bullets if they wanted to give up at least one of Danks/Floyd to go with Poreda and Fields (and possibly one more guy). That's exactly the type of deal I was thinking would work. If the Sox are willing to give up Fields, Poreda, Floyd, and one more prospect (maybe Lance Broadway), I think Toronto would consider it. So far there have been posters on here that think thats way too much and some that say it's not near enough. I'd personally jump all over that deal to have Halladay for three years. Floyd is solid, but nowhere near the caliber of Halladay. And if it's truly about winning it all and not just making the playoffs, the Sox would have to say yes to this type of deal if the opportunity presents itself. To have Halladay, Buehrle, Vazquez, and Danks pitching in the playoffs would bring me a ton of confidence in the Sox chances.

Eh, this is true, I just highly doubt that Kenny is going to trade a key kog from our major league team even for someone like Halladay. Are you kidding me? You don't think Kenny would trade away Floyd if it brought Halladay back in return? Floyd would be the only player in the deal currently on the Sox major league team, so I have to assume that's who you are talking about. I think he'd do that in a heartbeat! Brian
Cardinals sports radio and fans want him bad, but St. Louis won't part with Rasmus. I could see him as a Redbird.
DABearSoX
I'd give up Floyd in a second for Halladay. The money would just not work, yea its a pretty cheap contract for a pitcher as good as he is, but we would have to get rid of Count's money somehow and I don't see any team taking him for more than a High A baller. I would still cream myself if it happened.. MB RH JD JV JC/Spot Starter I gotta say that looks pretty damn good. Maybe we could bring back Danny Wright for that 5th spot? QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 09:06 PM) Dream on, unless they would like to Doc for PK So do you use every thread to make a comment about PK...I am starting to hope he hits a foul ball off your face... And maybe next year too if the Cards manage to hold Lohse? Yowza. When Wainwright comes back, they may put him at closer to help that awful pen out. That and he is probably not going to be fully healthy the rest of the season and they are not sure how long he could go as a starter now. TheBigHurt
I always laugh when I look at threads like this, because regardless of how good a player is, if he requires a lot of money, it's automatically a BIG no-no for the Sox, lol.
