YASNY
From the Daily Herald: Mound mystery: The White Sox play a doubleheader at Cleveland on Saturday, and manager Jerry Manuel knows Mark Buehrle is going to take the mound in Game 1. But the Sox are going to wait and see what happens over the next three games before naming a starting pitcher for Game 2. If the bullpen is fresh, long reliever Gary Glover is likely to get the nod. If not, the White Sox are expected to call on a minor-league pitcher to make the start. Even though he's scheduled to pitch in Sunday's All-Star Futures Game at U.S. Cellular Field, left-hander Neal Cotts is a strong possibility. Cotts is 8-3 with a 1.97 ERA in 15 starts at Class AA Birmingham this season.

Texsox
It's the Indians. They would win a AAA Championship, but it's not like their bringing him up to face the Mariners or Yankees. How about Billy Botch to start. Wouldn't it be an amazing story if Botch was a Eckersly in reverse? Struggling reliever becomes a 20 game winner as a starter. Ahh I can dream, I am a Sox fan. Wouldn't he just be up for that game, and than sent right back down after it? Like the Indians did earlier in the year with Cliff Lee
Jim Fainter
He would have to be added to the 40 man roster. There is room now, but they might want to use it for others before 9-1-03.

southsider2k5
Josh Stewart or Jon Rauch would be the logical canditates to me, or Matt Ginter if we need an extra reliever.
Guest wsc425
Stewart should start.
elrockinMT
I don't think they will call up Cotts because he is pitching the Sunday all-future stars game, or whatever they call it, and he is on the AA all-star team. That's more important for him right now then to use him for one big league game. We have pitchers at the AAA level they can call up if they need another starter for just one game. whitesox247
I think the Sox should call up their minor leaguers more often. We hardly get a chance to see those guys. Give them a chance or two and see how they do up in the big leagues. Some guys are just not ready (see: Borchard), but with guys like Cotts, whos tearing up AA, it cant really hurt, can it? CubKilla
I think the Daily Herald is talking out of their ass. If anyone gets the call-up for a "contender," it will probably be someone who has been in the ML's before. More than likely, we'll see Stewart if anybody. Isn't Rauch on the DL? He'd last 3 innings at most, and you'd burn ur pen out Probly be Stewart, Rauch is on DL i believe, though Cotts would be fun from a fan perspective. Guest hotsoxchick1
Ask Mark Burly. why mark has done fine since he was brought up.......he was ready......kip and jon on the other hand..... leave alittle to be desired.....
Rex Hudler
I would be surprised to see it happen, strictly because that means putting Cotts on the 40-man before they need to. It could happen, however. I heard the same little rumbling last week. If he pitches Saturday, obviously he would not pitch in the Futures Game on Sunday. I think Stewart should get the call, but I don't think a spot start and then rturn trip to AA would hurt Cotts. I don't think it hurt Wells either. Calling Wells up for good too soon is what hurt him.
CWSOX45
why mark has done fine since he was brought up.......he was ready......kip and jon on the other hand..... leave alittle to be desired..... I think that Jon Garland is finally learning how to succeed at the big league level, it's just a damn shame that the Sox can't score more than 3 runs for him...... Now for Kipper and Danny Wright.....well......I think they were both ready to come up too..... CWSOX45

Flingz
I'm really against bringing Cotts up even if it is for one game against the indians but what happens if he goes 7+ innings gives up no runs has 10 k's and no walks............then do we ship him back and say NICE win see you in a year or two! Yup.... or at least until they are convince he can contribute day in and day out and not just here and there. I'll say this and you can write it in ink..... Neal Cotts is NOT ready for the Majors right now. Could he go up there and have success in the short term? Very possibly. But he is not ready to be a Major League pitcher and the Sox know this.
