I'll say this and you can write it in ink..... Neal Cotts is NOT ready for the Majors right now. Could he go up there and have success in the short term? Very possibly. But the Sox are going to wait and see what happens over the next three games before naming a starting pitcher for Game 2. If the bullpen is fresh, long reliever Gary Glover is likely to get the nod. If not, the White Sox are expected to call on a minor-league pitcher to make the start. Even though he's scheduled to pitch in Sunday's All-Star Futures Game at U.S. Cellular Field, left-hander Neal Cotts is a strong possibility. Cotts is 8-3 with a 1.97 ERA in 15 starts at Class AA Birmingham this season. That's it. Screw the kid up and bring him to the Bigs too early like John Rauch. Its just a spot start so in this case its no big deal. There isn't really any risk in bringing him up because its not a permanent thing. I think they would probably be best off with Josh Stewart if his stamina is back by then, but it coudl be rushing it. Ginter wouldn't be a bad option either but he's been pitching relief all season. I'm not sure Rauch couldn't have used a little more seasoning even without the shoulder problem... I just don't like putting Cotts on the 40-man an earlier than is necessary, unless they really think he can help them this year. It was the completion of a suspended game from Monday. The Knights lost Game 2 by a 6-1 margin. Gload leads the International League in doubles (30) and extra-base hits (43), ranks second in slugging percentage (.564) and average (.340) and is tied for third in hits (99). Ryan Kohlmeier earned the victory and could be a candidate to pitch in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader at Cleveland.
