Dick Allen
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Want to know one difference between Swisher and Konerko, aside from those discussed earlier? Look at Swishers AB here and the swings he has been taking. When is the last time Konerko had an AB like this? Last time up. Paulie made an out. Just like Swisher. Its great to see 7 or 8 foul balls, but in the end, they don't give you any runs for them.
Flash Tizzle
Best strategy here is to walk the bases loaded for Konerko.
quickman
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) Swisher continues to suck. But hey, at least he saw a lot of pitches...ugh he took a pitcher to 13 pitches, thats a good at bat besides the fact he flew out. The twins basically have three guys on there team, and the sox continue to let those guys beat them. Thats the difference, Basically our single A pitcher against there best player. game over. Who cares how many pitches you see from a one inning reliever? When you're trailing in the 7th inning, production is the only thing that matters. Chisoxfn
Man, Richard pitched better than his line would indicate. I'm really impressed with that kid. He's got a shot at being a pretty damn good pitcher, imo. I'm not saying #1 or #2, but legit #3 who will ocassionally shut teams down. I'm still not sure if he has a good enough breaking ball, but everything else he has is something I like. Worse case your talking about a shutdown lefty reliever. Konerko's had a horrible year, I don't think anyone defending him has said otherwise. My belief with him is his injuries have accounted for the big dropoff. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't buy Paul Konerko being a .210 hitter. My deal with Swisher is he has been awful yet people continue to stroke him. The point fathom made was since its not the starter thats in having a 13 pitch at bat doesn't matter against a guy who's only staying in for one inning. Only the hitter producing matters.
