Man, Chad Tracy would be perfect for us...

Jul 29 Ken Rosenthal, of FOXSports.com, reports the Arizona Diamondbacks are willing to trade 3B Chad Tracy.

Seriously, Kenny obviously has a good rapport with Byrnes, and Tracy would be able to play 1B or 3B, and with Pauly struggling and Crede's back woes, I am throwing it out there that I think Chad Tracy could be acquired relatively inexpensively and give the Sox exactly what they need.

He's not a huge homerun guy, thank God, and will hit for a good average, and get on base. He doesn't try to do too much, and is a very consistent player.

There are no rumors of the Sox getting Tracy, I'll say that right now. However, KW would be very smart to add him to the roster.

We know how infatuated I've been with Tracy in the past. I really like this guy as an above average 6 hole hitter. He can play both 3B and 1B and would be a great acquisition because he could have a long-term future with the club as well. I don't know what the Dbacks would be looking for though. They want to improve there offense so I'm guessing any piece the Sox give up for Tracy would have to be a piece the Dbacks could use to acquire a big bat. Surely they would have no interest in Konerko, despite the fact that they have previously been rumored to have interest (no recent rumors).

I thought that was me (just ask Rowand44).

My guess would be, the Sox would have to deal an offensive piece (not Konerko unfortunately) or prospects to get him.

I would offer Crede straight up, or maybe try to use Fields and get something back along with Tracy (but the D-Backs have a Fields clone in Mark Reynolds I guess).

I wonder if they would be interested in Swisher actually? Or Clayton Richard, because they need a 5th starter with Owings in AAA.

I remember me and you always dreaming up different ways to get Tracy.

Was that the off-season of 2005?

I think I moved onto dreaming about acquiring Quentin after that.

Luckily it actually happened.

Tracy's versatile enough to play 1B/3B/OF as well.

You could quite easily stick him into LF next season and have Fields starting at 3B if that's what you wanted.

I actually think Owings could be a good buy. He hasn't given up a ton of hits despite a ridiculously high ERA and I still think he's at least a league average pitcher who will be under the teams control for a few years. However, I don't see the Dbacks offering those type of chips without getting better now.

It would have to be a 3 team deal with Owings/Tracy coming to the Sox and Fields/Poreda going to another team, possibly with an additional prospect or two from Arizona (or Chicago), in exchange for a legit bat.

Ugh, Owings is awful. His fastball at 88 mph would be destroyed in the AL with his lack of good offspeed pitches. He really should become an offensive player.

Offer Fields and Poreda for Tracy and Owings. Done. :)

Owings is on his way down to AAA, Tracy has the injury problems and he only has playing time cuz Byrnes is out I believe. We would have to ask for much more, I would ask for Tony Pena and something else atleast

Kong for Tracy?

Why not? Paulie goes back home.

Arizona may have to take on some salary, but they need some pop in that lineup. Paulie could be a risk worth taking imo.

Paulie is going nowhere. Next thread please.
