He qualified and said "recruiting coordinator rankings" or something like that.

Thats a good one you mentioned. I wasnt even going to stray from my Buckeyes to bring up a staff, any of Hayes coaching staff would sufficed. And actually, my alma mater (Miami) has some impressive ones as well.

That's for sure. It seems odd to me that Miami U of all places has all sorts of coaching connections, but they do... Heck, in general, the state of Ohio is the f'n coaching capital of the world. Something like 16 of the last 18 coaches to coach in the national championship are either from Ohio or coached at an Ohio school at some point in their career. That's amazing. Ohio is so underrated as a football state.

Miami used to be a decent football power back in the day. Most of that has to do with how extremely old the school is (1809) and how much revenue the University had. And you are spot on about coaching, its really strange. OSU's biggest rival got their best coach from Hayes' staff and Miami.

I don't get the hype over anything that Lane Kiffin spearheads...I mean, at what point has he done something in his coaching career to make you think "Wow, we need that guy on our sidelines!!"

He grabbed David Reaves from South Carolina, and I couldn't say Good Riddance fast enough as a S. Carolina fan. GL with those hires, all the recruiting in the world doesn't matter when you have a hapless hack as a Head Coach.

Really? Then cool.

Now, I hope Texas beats their ass. I can't stand the Buckeyes.

The odds are good that they will. OSU really should have played Georgia or someone like that.

Now lets say Texas beats OSU by 30+ and Oklahoma beats Fla. Who is YOUR national champion people?

USC

Utah

Texas

Oklahoma

If OU beats Florida, then you have to give them the title. They have gone apes*** on a few very solid teams like TCU, Texas Tech, Mizzou etc.

Don't forget Cincy and Ok State. Both teams were very good this year. They would kill Utah IMO. Alabama was overrated to begin with. When you have a QB who only throws 7 TDs all year, something is up.

Ive been out of town for the last few days so I didnt get to weigh in on the Big 10 etc debate, but here are my thoughts.

Id like to see how SEC or Pac 10 teams would do in a November/December game in Camp Randall, Ann Arbor, etc. Speed may be great in a bowl game and in perfect conditions, but there is a reason why many Big 10 players go on to play in the NFL and why many "superiorly talented SEC and Pac 10" players never make it.

You have to ask questions about how players like Brooks Bollinger and Jim Sorgi have places in the NFL when they played for a non-passing Wisconsin team. Where as there are plenty of SEC QBs that never make it.

At the end of the day the question has to be:

Are you playing college football to be a great college player (Danny Wuerffel, Tim Tebow etc) or are you playing to be good in the pros (Tom Brady).

Obviously the SEC has produced the Mannings and other great players, you just dont see the "talent gap" really prevalent in the NFL. It seems that the scores of the games are more indicative of the fact that they are being played in conditions that favor speed versus balance.

Wow. You seem to be in the minority of SC fans who think Reaves leaving is a good thing. He was the head recruiter of your Top 15 class, so I'm not sure how him leaving is good. But, okay. And Kiffin may not do anything. I know that. Every Tennessee fan knows that. But, he has the potential to be great, which is what we need to be able to compete with Florida, Alabama, and Georgia year in and year out. We couldn't settle on hiring some coach that will win 7-9 games a year, essentially already knowing what you're gonna get from the guy. Tennessee fans won't allow that. South Carolina is about the last team in the SEC I'm worried about, though. That's a team that has never and will never win anything of importance. Not with schools like Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee in the same division.

I usually don't like to call out other teams like that, especially when UT didn't even go to a bowl game this year, but if you're a true South Carolina fan, you already know what I said is true. By the way, isn't it about time yall start looking for a new coach? The 'Ol Ball Coach has done a great job for you, hasn't he? 28-22 in his 4 seasons. That's not gonna compete in the SEC East.
