whitesoxfan99
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) Miami is getting 23 at Florida on Saturday night. I'm not much the betting man, but I would strongly suggest that if you are, take the Hurricanes at the window and enjoy the free money. Too much pride, especially in an in-state game like, for Miami to lose by more than three touchdowns. Florida 26 - Miami
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) Florida 26 - Miami 3 Hey a push beats a loss (although it'd have been a win if Urban hadn't tried to run up the score at the end). But at the same time, that's why I don't bet on games. Edited September 7, 2008 by whitesoxfan101
maggsmaggs
Mizzou took Chase Daniel out with about four minutes to go in the 1ST HALF, yes the first half. It was 42-0 by then against Southeast Missouri State. This team looks amazing and really did all this offensive damage without Maclin being at 100% and Danario Alexader who is still out with a knee injury. But when we get both back 100% look out below. I truly believe Mizzou can score 40+ in every game this year minus the Big 12 Championship if they play OU. Heads22
Yay, Iowa State is 2-0. A really sloppy 48-28 win. ISU @ Iowa next weekend. Should be a good game. Usually is.

whitesoxfan99
I'm surprised no one has commented on this but the excessive celebration penalty against Washington was f***ing ridiculous. Why are our leagues so obsessed with taking the fun out of the game? It is one thing to penalize Chad Johnson level celebrations it is quite a different thing to penalize a kid who threw the ball in the air after making a great play to bring his team within an extra point with almost no time left. Locker than just celebrated with his teammates. This whole no celebration movement in football just pisses me off.

zenryan
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Hey zenryan, you're a pretty big Miami fan, right? What do you think about Cannon Smith? He was sort of a friend of mine freshman year of high school, so I'm just curious what you think about him... He was awful in high school, but it seems like he's grown some and has actually improved a bit. He definitely has character issues, though, with his DUI/possession of ecstasy charge a couple years ago, and the fact that he attended 4 different schools before getting into Miami. Dont know much about him but I dont think he'll ever be someone who gets a lot of playing time. A lot of Miami fans were shocked that we went after him to be honest. But his dad is loaded and our athletic dept. could use some donations down the road.
zenryan
onto the Florida game. I think we're getting close. We just need to get our young offensive players some experience and confidence. We are there on defense. Bill Young coming over from Kansas was an awesome hire. For 3 quarters we were there against Florida. I think we needed to take more chances on offense though. Our OC was playing way to cautious to have a chance to win the game. Still not happy about the play being overruled. I thought you have to keep possession of the ball after hitting the ground, which he didnt do. With the ACC sucking, I think we could contend for an ACC title game appearance. While I dont think we'll win every game from here on out, I do think every game is winnable for us. Something I wouldnt have said last week. Felix
Gophers improved to 2-0 after a 42-17 win on the road against Bowling Green. It was 21-17 going into the fourth quarter, but Minnesota scored 21 to finish things off right. This is the same Bowling Green team that owned us last year in the Metrodome and that upset #25 Pittsburgh in week one. We've already doubled last years win total, and it's nice to see the defense step things up.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 10:13 PM) Did Gabbert play? Yeah, he got in some, but they didn't throw that often with him. He did have a nice 30-yard run. chimpy2121
Damn that was refreshing. I know its WCU, but if this was last year we would have won 30-7, not 69-0. Drew got in the game in the 4th when it was 62-0. How far he has fallen.

bmags
I love blowouts, but our blow out wasn't even that fun. It was just way too easy. 42-0 half time. Chase patton and Gabbert got some good PT. Gabbert looked alright but reaffirmed that nothing can happen to Chase this year.

Rex Hudler
QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) Nah, just saying it will be an ugly game. I'm thinking 16-15 and have no clue who will win. I figure the defense or special teams will create some points or at least some easy opportunities for the anemic offenses. It should be painful to watch, but being the glutton for punishment I am, I'll be watching.
Heads22
Iowa an early 13 point favorite over ISU. ISU has covered 9 of the last 10, probably cause it's our Super Bowl or what not. Time for this state to be absolutely retarded this week.

Iowa has played tremendous but its been against a bunch of nobodies and this will be there first test. If they can win this game, I'll be feeling decent about there chances of a bowl and more importantly It'll be a sign that Ferentz has the ship heading back in the right direction. Hawkeye fans booed JC last Saturday. ISU will use both Arnaud and Bates again. BTW, since I'm working for ISU football this year, if we make a bowl game, I'll be spending Winter Break someplace warm.
