Kyyle23
QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) ...and only Gallagher is a starter on a real major league team. They dealt Harden for some trash. Murton played plenty in the last couple of years, and Patterson isnt all that bad either. If Harden were on the Sox people would be b****ing about how he taxes the bullpen because you cant pitch him past 5-6 innings, and how he is an injury waiting to happen, etc. Pretty much the same things they say about Griffey
G&T
Just got home to see this. Great. What makes it worse is that they probably will come back then lose like 8-6.
caulfield12
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:06 PM) Even though they arent top level prospects, 3 of the 4 players had time in the majors with varying degrees of success Our equivalent of that trade would have been something like Mike MacDougal, Andy Gonzalez (now on the Indians, actually), Charles Haeger and Donny Lucy. What makes it worse is that they probably will come back then lose like 8-6. this lineup is questionable IMO with Thome on the bench, and Paulie at 1st, and Uribe at 3rd. I thought Fields was our 3B of the future and was untouchable in trades? Why the **** is he on the bench then?
Frankensteiner
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) We have a pretty good core with Beckham, Ramirez, Danks, Floyd, Quentin, Swisher, Buehrle, Konerko (if healthy), Jenks (who we might have to think about maximizing his value by a trade...as our most tradeable piece). I guess we should have tried to get the maximum value out of Dye...but there's simply no way that KW could have done it this year, which is looking like a repeat of 2003 and 2006 down the stretch. It's not looking quite as hopeless as it did coming into this season, actually. Assuming that Ramirez, Quentin, Danks and Floyd are for real and not one year wonders. Beckham is not part of our core yet. He is not in the majors nor is he even signed. The soonest he'll play is 2010. That's an eternity. We don't even know if he'll ever make it as a major leaguer. Konerko f***ing blows. He looks like the next Richie Sexson. Swisher has been bust and in decline for 2 seasons. These guys don't inspire any confidence from my end. We have 6 good young players: Ramirez, Q, Danks, Floyd, Buehrle, and Jenks. That's it. That is not very good at all. Compare it to Twins roster which is just loaded with young talent. Those 4 guys combined don't have the value that Sean Gallagher does by himself. That's more of a statement about the 4 guys than it is Gallagher, but it's still true. Whitewashed in '05
You know what makes seeing Richard get rocked so bad? The Twins have 3 rookies in their rotation. We can't ever get 1 of ours to just be a 5th stater.

I don't think we'll fall out of the race. I highly doubt we'll win this divison, but we won't just fall out of it, and if we do, it won't be until the month of September. Correct, the pitching staff and defense since about Independence Day have been a lot like the 2007 Sox. You can try everybody and anybody, but they all suck. Makes the manager look awfully dumb. It's a lot easier when your options are a healthy Linebrink, Dotel and Thornton, instead of.... Aarsdma, Sisco, Heath Phillips, Mike Myers, Dewon Day, Bret Prinz, etc. Remember Ed. Sierra? Kyyle23
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) Tribe making things interesting, looks like Liriano is throwing quite a few pitches You have to wonder what kind of pitch count Liriano is going to be on. I was reading somewhere that Liriano was allowed to go back to his original arm slot to get the movement he used to have on his slider. If thats the case, his elbow is going to give again
