I am still a believer in that Sweeney will develop his power. Everyone knows he has it, he just doesn't seem to want to use it, yet.

 

Also, I hate the arguement that if you play a certain position you must hit for power.

 

He should probably start using it if he has it(like you say), might help the A's out.

Right, he must be hiding it away for the right moment...... Scouts have been saying he will develop his power for years, it hasnt happened yet, maybe in a few years. And I like Ryan Sweeney a ton for CF for some teams, but as a corner guy, his .724 OPS isnt going to turn many heads. You hate Swish, but he still beats Sweeney by 40 points in a bad year and 90 points in his career so far (with this year factored in). For comparison's sake Darin Erstad has a .748 career OPS.

 

And thats fine if you arent a believer of that fundamental baseball theory. Once the A's have a good power hitting player come up and they need to put him on the field somewhere, they will put him in the corner OF, and then the light hitting guy goes to the bench.

Did you not see where I said "right now." Anyone can make the long term arguement. But right now, Gio would look damn good, due to the fact any blind person can see that he is the better pitcher then Broadway (even though he did pitch decent today). And with Paulie finally hitting again and Griffey in CF, Swisher is more of a side option right now.

 

Well frame of f***ing reference here, for Christ's sake...who would you have rather had for the past 4 F***ING MONTHS OF THE SEASON, SWISHER AND BROADWAY OR GIO AND SWEENEY? That's absolutely f***ing ridiculous and if you don't see that, then you need to open your f***ing eyes.

 

And if you say Sweeney and Gio, you are an absolute f***ing lunatic.

 

So right now, considering the White Sox are in first place by a full game over the Twins where they would be 3-5 games back with Sweeney in CF all season long, I will take Swisher and Broadway. How's that for you?

 

Also, to say Swisher is a superior player then Sweeney is just plain ubsurd. You can make the arguement, but to state it as fact is crazy. You have a guy who has always been a decent but not great hitter (although he does walk a lot which makes him a god to some people) vs. a guy who has been hovering around .300 his rookie season and playing much better D with a lot of offensive potential.

Offensive potential means nothing to me...I mean, I figured we were talking about right now, weren't we?

 

Swisher has been the superior player. Fact. Arguing anything else is absurd.

 

And the "clubhouse" stuff is so very overrated. When he was on the A's being a "super grinder" and great clubhouse guy, that never won them a World Series title, let alone an American League Champion title. And if we had Sweeney in CF over Swisher all season, I have a hard time seeing how it would have made us worse off. Unless ofcourse you believe Swisher's pressence turned what look to be a very mediocre staff into an above average one.

 

The Sox would have been much, much worse off with Sweeney in CF. I've put the facts in front of you. All you have to do is let it sink in. Clubhouse prescence or not...I think the never-say-die attitude has come from a number of guys, but Swisher is one of them...this club is far superior this season with Swisher on the team than Sweeney. If you argue anything else, you are arguing with Sweeney-coated glasses for another player.

 

And I love how you say I can cut off my boner for Sweeney anytime, when you are down on all fours for Swisher. It's no secret that I have always been a big Sweeney fan, but right now Gio is the guy we miss most from this deal as he would be a godsend right now.

 

I'm on all fours for Swisher and it's because he's a pretty damn good ballplayer and he's been superior to Sweeney (I hope you have realized this by now). And right now, this club is better because Swisher is on the team rather than Sweeney and Swisher. You can't say "well right now blah blah blah"...it's either this or that and there's no in-between.

 

As of right now, the team is better with Swisher and Broadway. I don't think you can argue anything else, and that has been an all-around good trade for the White Sox at this point in time.

Yes, Swisher's BABIP shows he's been extremely unlucky this season and he STILL has a higher OBP, SLG, HR, RBI, etc.
