Orozco making a ridiculously stupid decision early in the game against Nigeria to throw that elbow plus the refs awarding the Netherlands a pretty iffy penalty kick to give them a win also contributed. The Netherlands is unbelievably lucky to still be in the tournament. Well at least the US finally has some promising young talent in soccer.

Yeah, that was hard to watch. I think the US had the better team too. This group of guys has been doing well coming up through the ranks. The National Team has some future. It's typical of US soccer to play well and get unlucky/receive tough breaks.

i still think she rocks.

I didn't say she didn't. She's an ass kicker and my favorite of the female gymnasts this year. All business.

Tonight is Jonathan Horton night, and he's the s*** too. I love his attitude.

That guy is the corniest, most douchebaggish person I've ever seen. "Alright USA! #1! Let's rip it! Show 'em how it's done baby! We're going swimming in the rivers tonight!"

I love that about him. He embodies team. He's always yelling "GO USA!"

If you have a problem with that, you have a problem with the spirit of the Olympics.

LOL, do you really think it's genuine? The guys sees a camera and jumps all over the opportunity. The spirit of the Olympics is representing your country on the field, on the mat, on the bars, whatever. Not representing them on camera.

I guess him being, by far and unquestioned, the best on the team... as well as representing USA tonight for the individual event, doesn't qualify as representing his country?

He's f***ing cheering on his teammates, and I know you can't prove he doesn't do that when the cameras aren't on him. There's been multiple times, through qualifying as well as the team event, that I could hear Horton cheering during an event, the cameras were not on him.

You're just picking on him to pick on someone. Please don't, because Horton (as well as most of his teammates), is a breath of fresh air for sports fans who most of the time put up with the likes of Chad Johnson and Manny Ramirez.

The article you quoted has American's saying it was not the fault of the Chinese officials.

It clearly stats Marta Karolyi said those things.

Karolyi is not an American, so while she may work for America, it does not mean she represents the view point of most Americans.

LMFAO It's a conspiracy against the US! The officials should be blamed for Sacramone's choke job on the floor exercise and also for Liukin and Johnson stepping out of bounds after Sacramone as well then, I assume?

No athlete said anything... it was a Romanian who happens to coach them.

This may be more important than people realize. The U.S.A. team is BELOVED by the Chinese fans (and a lot of American fans have traveled over as well), whereas the Chinese fans booed the Spanish all game the other day. The Spanish are one of the bigger threats to the United States, and the U.S. will have a huge home crowd advantage against the Spainish squad, both in the prelim match and the medal rounds if they play again, and that never hurts.

I believe it was a Spanish crowd who a few years ago mocked a visiting black soccer player by scratching themselves and making monkey sounds.

Yeah, people who think racism is bad in America (and obviously, there is still improvement needed) should take a trip over to Europe.

What does her being Romanian have to do with anything? I just think it's funny she's trying to find an excuse for her gymnasts choking.

Well your post makes it seem like the US in stating its some sort of conspiracy, when the US has come out and said that Chinese officials did nothing wrong.

The only person who has said otherwise is a non-American.

/shrugs

I guess I dont see how the article jives with your original post, when the article states the US federation:

But a few hours later, USA Gymnastics president Steve Penny said the delay involving Sacramone's beam routine happened because of scheduling issues related to the Games' television feed.

"It's a normal television thing that's typical in international competition," he told AFP.

"I don't know if Martha knew exactly the details of what was happening when she said that."

Asked if the outspoken Karolyi had lashed out due to the disappointment of seeing her team lose, Penny replied: "You could say that."

Seems that the US explicitly said that it was not a conspiracy, and that Karolyi didnt know what she was talking about.

But I guess you just wanted to present it as some sort of anti-American article?

I really dont know, I just dont see anything in that article that shows an American stating its a conspiracy.

Umm, I never said it had anything to do with America starting a conspiracy. Karolyi turned it into a conspiracy against the US. But yeah, I'm just trying to pull Anti-American articles out of nowhere.

Anyone else hear that the Spanish teams racist photo was all planned by Mike Krzyzewski?

Im not the only one who remarked about how you presented the article.

Perhaps you did not mean it to sound as if you were attacking America, but thats how it sounded.

/shrug

Nope, no "attack on America" there. I just thought it was incredibly stupid. Both of the Karolyi's are morons. Just funny to me that we hear so much b****ing about the age of the Chinese competitors first, then the officials making the American's f*** up.

People get paid to write articles that sell. No one wants to read about how the United States flat out choked away its chance and regardless of the age or any of the other bulls*** could have still won.

People want to read conspiracy theories, they want to read sensationalism.

At the end of the day if the US was the best, they win that meet.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The sad part of this statement is it's true, people don't want the truth, they just wan't some BS to make them feel better about themself (or in this case, somebody representing their country).
