If Cox had held him up, this board with exploded with anger.

Absolutely, after a weird bounce like that, it would have.

What are you talking about? Thome is slower than s*** now. That run means nothing in the sense of Konerko's run meaning more.

The problem with what Cox did wasnt that he started to wave him around, its that he ran up the line so that he couldnt stop Thome once he saw that Joyce got the ball in quickly. If he stays in front of Thome he can put the stop sign up and Thome can get back into third. For some reason he just runs into left field and he cant do anything but watch.

Are you kidding, maybe if it was anyone besides Thome/Konerko/Pieryznski you send the guy home but that wasnt even close, it was pathetically bad.

Sure we would of all exploded with anger as he sent an old man running around 3rd with the ball in the hand of the outfielder. Who happens to have a good arm. That makes sense.

My argument isnt that Cox did the right thing--- it's that this board is quick to pounce either way. If he's held up and then we dont score in the inning, Cox is attacked for conservatism.

This might sound a bit extreme to some people, but IMO he seriously has hurt this team and the team's chances this year. He seriously needs to be fired.

He's been bad both ways. Didn't he hold up Cabrera the other day but he went through the stop sign and basically scored without a play?

I saw that as well, which makes him even worse at his job.

Expecting Thome to score from 1st....are you serious? Anybody else maybe besides Thome or Konerko.....

When the runner is thrown out by 20 or 30 feet, the coach didn't do the right thing. Especially considering the score of the game and the situation.

He was touching 3rd as the ball was being thrown in. I don't think anyone would of been pissed if he held him up.

I think everyone on this board knows how important Konerko's run is.

Any runner should've been sent home. The thing is, we didn't pinch run for Thome. We absolutely should have. The bounce when Raburn picked it up dictated such.

Seriously, I've never seen Thome run that slowly. But he looked that way coming INTO THIRD BASE. So, stop him there.

LOL yeah, I saw that. Jeff Cox has no business on this team.

Not really, you leave Thome in the game, since his run isn't that important. I have no problem with Thome staying in for the chance he hits in the 9th.

Again, a few people are making my argument into something different. Not defending Cox's choice, but more just saying...

if the ball takes that carom, 99 out of 100 3rd base coaches will have an arm windmilling. that's pretty much what their job is when a carom like that happens.

like it or not.

thats why i'm saying, don't say his move is right, but also temper outrage b/c it will happen again. with any 3rd base coach.
