dasox24
The last couple of outings for both Poreda and Ely have been absolutely rock solid. Can't wait to see what happens with Poreda come September... Always nice seeing Shelby do well. He's had himself quite a season. Let's hope he keeps it up. And Retherford went hitless for what seems like the 1st time in forever. Guess it had to happen sooner or later, lol.
RockRaines
Many good pitchers made the jump from AA to the majors. Poreda might be that kind of guy. He could be a nice pen arm in the stretch here.
GoodAsGould
I wouldnt mind calling him up to replace Logan for these last 2 months. Give him a glimpse of the majors and maybe he ends up being Bobby Jenks esque for us in the bullpen. Its not like Logan is doing a good job anyways that he could be that much of a dropoff. NorthSideSox72
Interesting that Charlotte is playing the Red Sox AAA affiliate, while we play the Red Sox. Sergio Miranda: hitting .469 his last 10 games, now hitting .310 on the season with an OBP approaching .400, and has as many walks as strikeouts. Meanwhile, Escobar is hitting .229, and yet continues to start at SS and lead off every game (Miranda playing a lot of 2B, 3B, DH).

Also, Escobar is a few years younger I think

moragasoxfan
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 9, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) I sure hope so. I wonder if this means his breaking/offspeed stuff is developing? It has been a continuous improvement process. Several things have improved: 1) he had a break through (of sorts) with his change when he made a slight adjustment to his grip; 2) Better command of slider (fewer hangers/more in the dirt); 3) Better FB command (more first pitch strikes) He's still throwing about 70% FB.
