wilmot825
After watching this guy for the last few months, I wonder why no one mentions him for Rookie of the Year. All the talk is about Evan Longoria, but now that he has a fractured wrist and will be out for maybe the rest of the way, is it time to switch the focus to Alexei. What do you think? Princess Dye
Longoria has been too good. even with this time missed for the wrist, it's not going to even up the numbers enough Even with Alexei having been on the bench for a similar chunk of time himself. joejoesox
Alexei's "clutch" stats are pretty impressive Close and Late: .339 .339 .536 .875 RISP: 413 .420 .556 .976 RISP,2out: .353 .389 .559 .

Kalapse
Even with the injury to Longoria, the 2 will probably finish the year with a similar number of plate appearances seeing as how Alexei didn't play much for the first 2 months of the season and he bats at the bottom of the order. Longoria is sporting an .885 OPS and 22 HRs, he's also an All-Star and a GG candidate, good luck beating that.

In other words, he needs the batting title.
Gregory Pratt
Ramirez won't win the batting title.

In other words, he needs the batting title. Which he still needs to qualify for. In order to qualify he'd have to average 3.1 PA for every game the Sox play this year (162). 3.1 PA per game comes out to 501 total PA over a 162 game season. Alexei currently sits at 331 PA, with 45 team games remaining (not counting the makeup game) Alexei will have to average 3.8 PA per game and play everyday the rest of the way. Enough Plate appearances and getting a few more hits to push that average up above Bradley's. If he's sitting there with the batting title, Longoria misses a little time with this injury, and nothing else wierd happens, he's got more than a shot. CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Just guessing here but isn't Alexei hitting like .345 over the last 2 months ? That's damn impressive. I think he'll get the plate appearances necessary barring injury. Right now I'd give him about a 25% chance of winning ROY up to 50% if he wins the batting crown. Bonderman38
This really tightens the field..you could go with Ramirez, Galarraga, Ellsbury will get votes whether deserving or not..

Yeah, Longoria, Ramirez, Galarraga, Ellsbury, and Murphy will be the top 5 candidates.
wilmot825
I have a feeling if Longoria doesnt get it, there will be an "East Coast Biasis" and Ellsbury will steal it from more deserving players.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Alexei having a hard time winning Rookie of the Month. Lost out to Longoria in June and now Chris Davis of Texas in July while batting .355 in June and .341 in July.
