Steve9347
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) arm numbness from being hit by pitches on multiple consecutive days Is this for real? he probably desperately just needed a day off. whitesoxbrian
Stiffness in the forearm is what is being reported. If we win the 1st 2 games, give him the 3rd game off. If we win 1 of the first 2, we might be forced to get him in there on Thursday- can't afford a lost series by KC. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) Stiffness in the forearm is what is being reported. Well, he did get hit twice by pitches last night. Probably no big deal. I hope.
WilliamTell
I'd like to say at least it's against KC, but with the way we've played lately, it's hard to say that.
fathom
Assuming it's his left forearm, then this is no big deal.
The Ginger Kid
doesn't he lead the league in HBP? that's gotta catch up with you at some point.
joejoesox
not good. hopefully it's just one game, but honestly we already knew Javy wouldn't give us a good chance to win anyways

I was at the game last night, it looked like at least one pitch hit him in that left forearm area.

WCSox
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) Well, he did get hit twice by pitches last night. Didn't he get hit in every game of the BOS series? And more than once in the last Royals series as well? He's taken a f'n beating.
nitetrain8601
Apparently, it's not from HBP. He tweaked something in batting practice.

winninguglyin83
he's been hit in five straight games. don't know if that is a record. No need to find out.

ptatc
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 12, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) Assuming it's his left forearm, then this is no big deal. The left forearm numbness that someone mentioned earlier is a distinct possibility. The radial nerve runs very superficial through the radial tunnel on the outside of the forearm. This nerve innervates all of the muscles which extend the wrist. If there was any edema in the area it could easily cause a decrease in the strength of the wrist. This could effect his hitting so it's good to rest him if this is the case. He'll be getting one painful massage to the forearm and elbow that would make him wish he was playing and getting hit again.

Kerry Sayers said it on Comcast, but no word if it's day to day. They said he was a late scratch.
elrockinMT
Good to give him a day off to rest the arm and get some physical therapy. One of the reasons we have Griffey is to allow an OF'er to rest, but Griffey needs to contribute with the bat soon. All singles and 2 rbi's from Junior so far.
