scenario
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) But who pitches in the next turn in the rotation? Depends if Richard gets used in relief or not. If he does, then they'd probably ship him back to Charlotte and rotate Broadway back up. It only costs a couple of plane tickets. It's smart roster management to shuttle AAA guys back and forth like this when you need them to give the team a fresh available arm.
Kenny Hates Prospects
Question... If Broadway is just going to be called up in a few days to start again, why can't Broadway stay with the team while the Sox option him to the minors on paper? I'm pretty sure he can't be on the bench or anything, but can't he just hang out in the clubhouse for the next few days and take practice on the field and throw on the side? When players are on the DL they're allowed to stay with the team, even though they're not on the 25-man roster. I understand the need for another pitcher (although not Richard specifically) but it just kind of sucks to see Broadway sent down after today's start. I had no hope for him at all because of his last few outings in Charlotte, but I think the kid deserves to stick around after getting the job done today. If the 5th spot is still undecided, it should be Broadway's to lose right now.
JPN366
Richard was scratched last night, so he is fresh.
JPN366
QUOTE (JFields27 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) Eh, whatever happens happens. Everywhere a minor league thread is we can find you there since you watch a lot of it, so I'll take that word. hah Tip of the hat to you. Kalapse
I was definitely impressed with the results today but not particularly impressed by the way he went about it. He only got 7 swinging strikes today, he wasn't missing bats at all. That s*** ain't gonna fly against a team with a couple big league hitters in the lineup, he's gonna have to find away to get the ball past the hitters if he wants to be successful especially with the current defense behind him. greg775
I admit I'm confused too, but just think about how our tone about Broadway has changed because of five innings against the horrible Royals? Many fans on here were pissed when he got called up figuring we were sacrificing today's game. I admit it's puzzling after a decent start, but Oz and KW are hot this season, gotta trust their madness has a method.
southsider2k5
Sounds like he knew what he was up here for, and how long it was going to be for.
2nd_city_saint787
QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) KC only has one player with an OPS over .775 (Aviles), so that may have helped. Either way, minor league performances don't always translate to the MLB. It may be the defense, motivation, coaching, etc, but many solid MLB players didn't do too hot in the minors. i think motivation is the key word when talking about his success the other day.
