caulfield12
QUOTE (Karko's Throat Skin @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) Thornton looks much better than he has been. Hope the back injury is overblown. BTW, who are we DL'ing/DFA for Richard? Or is it Broadway? It would be tempting to leave Thornton in, the way he's pitched so far, but I am sure OG will go with Dotel. The way that Thornton has weakened in the 2nd and 3rd innings of appearances, and with his acknowleding that he's been feeling a little weak in terms of arm strength (and maybe the back?), we have to send Dotel out there. justBLAZE
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 11:09 PM) I still shudder to think that Owens was going to be our starting CF. I completly forgot about Jerry Owens, now that you and Hawk mention him, what is gonna happen to him after the season?

Heads22
Probably should have stuck at third there, though it was a really nice throw.
Cerbaho-WG
Really can't blame Cox on that one, didn't thing Barton would have thrown it that well.
Harry Chappas
Comparing Boone Logan And Carlos Quentin should get DJ fired. No problem with Anderson going there oh wait Ramirez was on deck. Nice play by the A's.

almagest
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) Absolutely the right call to send him. Yeah, with 2 outs and 2 strikes on Swisher, definitely. Looked like someone in Oakland's bullpen touched the ball, though. Doesn't it then become a dead ball?
fathom
For some reason, I always worry that Dotel will come in and just be nowhere near the plate (due to that Giants game).
caulfield12
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Absolutely the right call to send him. According to McDowell, Anderson turned to look for the ball (when he heard the crowd noise), hesitated rounding 2nd base and didn't look for Cox. Both seemed to blame Anderson's baseball instincts more than Cox's decision-making.

He referred to it there as "a groin situation." Sounds like a matter of national security.

Get Dotel out of there and put in Carrasco. ugh. 4-

Both seemed to blame Anderson's baseball instincts more than Cox's decision-making. Cox was right to send him. But if he's the baserunning coach, he's not very good. Anderson looked back tonight. Ramirez has looked back about half a dozen times that I've seen. They're not supposed to do that. Maybe they don't trust him.

Yeah, you could see Anderson turn his head and hesitate. He probably would've been safe easily if he didn't, but I'm not sure if you can give him too much flak for that. His coaches have to be communicating with him that the ball got away. When you're picked off like that, you're only focusing on getting to 2nd base.
