I still think Richard is going to be a quality bullpen guy, especially if he's able to amp up for his inning or two in relief and throw 93-94 mph like his opener.

I agree. He's going to play a big part in solidfying the Sox pen down the stretch (thats assuming the club can find someone else to handle the 5th starters duties).

He's a pretty good pitcher the first time through lineups because his motion is quirky and he has some strange late sink on his fastball. This is why he will be a pen guy in the majors.

Of course he's not ready. But we need a spot start from someone in the heat of a playoff race and Poreda is a lefty who can throw 100 mph

Just to be clear, the only times that Poreda registered 100 mph were last year when he was coming out of the bullpen in Great Falls. There was one time that he registered 99 mph on the stadium radar gun this year, but the team gun said 97. Typical FB velocity during his game is 92 to 96.....but remember, it's not the speed, it's the movement and the command.

See Zumaya, Joel. Also, see what happens when pitchers take the mound without a 2nd or 3rd pitch to keep batters off balance.

"Aaron Poreda's name has been thrown out in the media"

Nice! Who threw it out there? The media? The media, with its need to invent stories to fill up newspaper columns when there are no stories, has thrown out Aaron Poreda's name, and now is "reporting" on it in the medai? Dynamite. Is there any more sure fire way to get a "story" in the media, than for the media to pretend it is a story, ask actual people about it, and then "report" the answers as if it were a story.
