Blog I read fairly often presents some interesting season rankings for our Sox. Reading this really highlights how good the Sox actually are, even with all our complaining.

Thoughts?

We only see the bad here at soxtalk. How dare you post anything positive...

The bullpen ERA ranking is weighed heavily by their numbers from earlier this year, when Linebrink was healthy and Thornton and Logan were all pitching better. Getting Linebrink back will help. Any word yet on when that might be?

You could say the same thing about the offense. Just think of their numbers if they were not so bad early on.

The Sox offense actually has a ton of talent and I think that most people expected them to recover. However, several members of the bullpen (Logan, Thornton, Dotel) over-performed in comparison to their numbers over the past few seasons. Even if Thornton and Dotel continue to pitch like they did in April and May, Logan's gone and Linebrink's status is still up in the air. Given that pitching will be more important in October (should the Sox make it), I'll call the Sox a "pretty good" team, rather than a "terrific" one.

Carrasco has been very solid as well. Comparing what we have to what other teams have in respect to lineup, rotation, and bullpen; I think we match up pretty well versus any team in the league.

i'm still not sold on this team being "terrific", if we can mash the ball against good teams like the Rays, Angels, Sawx.. then I'll start getting really excited

right now i'm just a little excited ;)

We are on a roll right now. The crazy thing, however, is there's been no separation from Minnie of late. I love the way we're playing and we are a terrific team, but our inability to shake the pests the Twins concerns me.

That's what makes this weekend so huge. Sox and Twins play the best in the league. Not only does it have implications on the central race, but it could have a huge effect on the race for the best record.

as of late all we've done is win games (except the blown game in Oakland) so really what else can we do to "shake" Minny? We've already matched last months win total and we have 10 more games to go this month. I hope the Sox can get a little payback for that sweep in Tampa earlier in the season.

Yeah there's nothing more we can do. It's the Twins that are bugging me. I want to see them lose eight of nine. Kudos to the Sox for not having a sub par stretch the past week or we'd be five, six games out. If only they had had a s***ty homestand we'd be five, six up.

Frustrating isn't it?

Way back it was the A's that pissed me off. Now it is the Twins. They weren't even suppose to be in the race this year. It was suppose to be Detroit and Cleveland. How dare they play well.
