Hollister just screams Im trying to be cool but cant really pull it off so I try and wear something that was possibly trendy a few years ago and has just now become available at my local mall.

Since I'm pushing 40 I am out of the loop, but I think it's funny when I see groups of people (ages usually between 15-28) who are all wearing clothes proudly supporting the stores names. Ambercrombie..Hollister....Aeropostle...i mean....what the heck....they should be paying you to advertise their stores..not charging you to do it for them.

I guess I am getting cranky in my old age...every time I see one of these guys (mostly) walking around and they have the baseball cap on backwards (or sideways) i want to slap it off their heads and tell them to wear it right.

The one thing I hate about going back to school is seeing punk ass kids reving up or hot rodding their piece of s*** honda's (or any other piece of s***) in the parking lot. It's so f***ing annoying!

I'll take my american muscle (third gen Camaro) with the flowmaster's anyday. :headbang

I wasnt referring to you. I was referring to the "Hollister is s***" crowd.

Dressing up for a lecture was only required if you were speaking, IMO. Plus, being in Carbondale meant 95 degree days with 99 percent humidity on syllabus day. So going dressed to the nines was NOT HAPPENING

Haha people get so mad if you joke about a certain kind of clothes. Relax, I can't dress for s*** and I don't really care. :) I'd rather be that than spending all kinds of extra money to wear the supposedly cool looking stuff.

People need their phone, keys, and wallet at all times. Period.

No they don't. I never brought my phone with me to class unless it was to check a day-game score, and wallet I only brought with maybe 2% of the time. If you are getting up, walking to class, and walking back, what the hell is the point of having a phone and wallet? Unless it has a purpose, it's just more crap to lose.

And the people who would get on their phone the instant they got out of class (these are the people who get hit by bikes, cars, buses) drove me nuts. You can't wait 10 minutes to get home and have this conversation. "Oh my god I just got out of class, matter of fact I'm still in the hallway, how was your 9am class?"

I don't think that's you 101, but you know what I'm saying.

I always like to have the phone in case something goes wrong, ESPECIALLY after the February 14th shootings here. And I don't feel comfortable having my wallet anywhere except with me at all times because of the stuff in there.

Good point on the shootings, but I think you get what I was saying. I highly doubt most of the people at other schools have your mindset, however.

Wallet I really felt less safe having it going to class, it's pretty safe in my apartment IMO, but that depends on your living situation.

I used to never bring my phone with me to class unless I had something to do before/afterwards, so you are right on there. I guess by now it's 2nd nature to me to have it at all times now that the shooting was a little over 6 months ago. And realistically, my living situation is fine to leave the wallet in my room, but I'm just paranoid because of all the stuff in there. Just like I always lock doors even though you don't really need to do that in DeKalb. Just something I guess I got into the habit of growing up in the city.

I don't typically wear athletic shorts to class unless I'm in a serious hurry. My normal attire is khaki shorts (or some sort of dress shorts) and a t-shirt. I don't over-dress, but I don't like to under-dress, especially with all the good looking women around campus.

Also, I agree on the backpack chest strap. Helpful when say, oh, climbing a mountain; pointless when walking around a college campus.

One in-class pet peeve of mine: I hate when people start packing up all their s*** right before the teacher is about to stop teaching. I mean, what is waiting 10 more seconds going to hurt? We all know class is about to get out. There's no point in zipping up your bag and standing up to leave when the teacher is trying to make last-second announcements.

Oh, and lastly, I always need my phone, wallet, and keys before leaving for class. Before I leave anywhere, I always check for those 3 items. They're a must have.

Isn't the saying "It's the clothes that make the man, but the man who makes the clothes"?

Gotta love people who dress up for 8 AM lecture on syllabus day.

Goddamn right I'm wearing shades and my Hollister s***. Pickin up b****es ain't never been so easy.

I'm also partial to the guys that use the safety straps on their backpacks, like they're climbing a goddamn mountain.

:lolhitting WTF are you doing in an 8:00 AM class??

Only time that class is offered.

Tell me it's some Freshman required and you can at least miss it half the time and sleep through the other half.

BTW, do you have Prof Tom Meyer in the Physics department there? Really interesting guy?

No, it's athletic training, and is required for my coaching endorsement. It's only offered at 8 AM.

And I never have, nor will take Physics here.

I've been going to Kohls for years and wouldn't consider anywhere else unless I wanted something specific (such as an Irish hat) that I know they don't have. It's awesome because I never have a problem finding anything. If I want a polo there will be one. If I want a sweatshirt or dress shirt it'll be there. When I was in high school, and following the trend of AE/AF, there was a 50/50 shot of finding clothes in my size. Worst comes to worst, I just go to another Kohls. There are probably four stores within five miles of here.

I wear shorts every day, year round. I cannot believe how many students here are in jeans when it's like 103 degrees outside. I see some people dressed up a bit, for this area, and assume they are going to work or something. But I work from home most of the time and basically just stroll over to campus in shirts, a t-shirt, and flip flops.

It annoys me when teachers make the class introduce themselves to everyone or when they assign seats which I've encountered a couple times which I think is crap at this level. I'm not anti-social, but it isn't like I'm going to remember everyones name in my class or better yet what their interests are in the class. I know the teachers usually do it so they can remember the students, but still...

I'm especially alert of my surroundings these days at the beginning of the semester with so many people and the possible grudge that students my be holding because of bad grades handed out the previous semester.
