NCsoxfan
I emailed Ozzie this afternoon with the suggestion of firing Jeff Cox. I ended the email asking why he and KW keep him. His response 10 minutes later? "because i want him all year ? "

knightni
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) I emailed Ozzie this afternoon with the suggestion of firing Jeff Cox. I ended the email asking why he and KW keep him. His response 10 minutes later? "because i want him all year ? " He could of said a lot worse. Not exactly the kind of question that I'd want if I was at work and some guy walking by tried to tell me how poor they thought my employees and I did our jobs. I'd question the logic behind your e-mail and the resulting sterotypicality of it; but, I'd rather not be accused of personal attacks. greg775
That's cool you got a response. I've yet to get a response. When Paulie sucked I begged Oz to bat him 8th.
RockRaines
OMG you didnt get a good response from Ozzie when you suggested he fire one of his coaches???? I cant even BELIEVE that!!!!!! I mean, it was just a brilliant suggestion, I expected him to thank you.

Kyyle23
There is no such thing as a great third base coach. They have to make quick decisions and hope that thier players succeed and the opposing players fail. Asking for one to be fired is just dumb, because the guy that replaces him is going to make the same mistakes and have the same sort of success. We dont have a fast team, Cox can only do so much
shipps
I want to email Ozzie to fire Greg Walker just because I miss saying it.Yep...good times.
CanOfCorn
Why do you want to fire Jeff Cox? Because he's too aggressive? I think this team needs to put pressure on the opposing team because they are too slow. BA scoring the other day at home is the perfect example. I do think the team is bunting better, still not up to major league player standards, but better. I lik eCox, I think Cora is a great bench coach...let's let it go. Oh yeah, and the team is in first place, did I mention that before???
DABearSoX
The worst call I have seen him make was sending BA on Paulie's 9th inning single a few days ago...but look how that turned out
lostfan
If Cox was fired who would be the 3rd base coach then? Cora? Oh f*** no.
bmags
QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) The worst call I have seen him make was sending BA on Paulie's 9th inning single a few days ago...but look how that turned out honestly, it was a 3-2 pitch with 2 outs, how in the world wasn't BA rounding third way before then
DABearSoX
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:17 PM) honestly, it was a 3-2 pitch with 2 outs, how in the world wasn't BA rounding third way before then Damn, I never even thought of the count...I mean he would have been out by 50 feet... iamshack
The ball Konerko hit was an absolute rocket right at the LF'er. There was no way to score that run unless there was a bad throw or hop (which we were lucky enough to get). Cox is actually extremely conservative...I miss having Joey over there... BobDylan
QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) honestly, it was a 3-2 pitch with 2 outs, how in the world wasn't BA rounding third way before then Because you don't send the runner 3-2, 2 outs when 1st base is open. iamshack
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) And I miss having Darin Erstad bat leadoff. I will gladly take a few guys getting thrown out here or there for being aggressive than watching our players have to choose to run through stop signs because Cox is so damn conservative. bighurt574
With 2 outs, Cox made the right call by sending Anderson. The odds of him scoring on that play are a lot better than the next guy up getting another hit to drive him in from third.

joejoesox
sent an email, probably won't get a response but I had to give it a shot. just asked if we'll see more leadoff at-bats for Alexei this year 4-5 yesterday ;o
