Texsox
No one asked me but . . . I liked the ASG as a mindless exhibition that didn't count. If you want to get all the players in, schedule the game for 12 innings and go home. Or make it a minor league double header. Two 7 inning games. Playing this thing to win is stupid. Espesially when you still hear guys like Barry Bonds talking about not playing. This could directly affect his team and he still doesn't give a s***. Yeah it really counts. At lest they are not playing two All-Star games a year as they did form 1959-1962.
SweetJfour
If Barry Bonds doesn't want to participate in the homerun derby or the all-star game good for him. I know if my father was dying of a terminal illness I sure as hell wouldn't waste three days off where I could be by his side to participate in an exibihtion game! Shame on any of you who think Bonds just doesn't feel like participating. <_>

However if it's just because he doesn't want to, then that's completely different.
SweetJfour
What are you talking about? I wasn't even referring to anything you said. I was commenting on a statement by someone else. I assure you I comprehended what was said quite well. Someone said Bonds doesn't give a s***. The sheer notion of that comment is asinine!!!!!! How in the hell is someone's OPINION ASSinine (and yes, it's spelled wrong on purpose!) And you said "Shame on any of you who think Bonds just doesn't feel like participating" I did say he was not participating in the Derby so you WERE commenting about something I said! SweetJfour
Naturally you are entitled to your opinion, even if it is completely cold and inhumane. I was simply replying to the comment that to think Bonds doesn't give a s*** is in fact asinine!

I was simply replying to the comment that to think Bonds doesn't give a s*** is in fact asinine! When asked why he would not participate, Bonds told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: "Because I'm a grown man and I don't have to do it." "Did Michael Jordan play in the slamfest every year?" Bonds asked. "Nobody asked him why. I'm 30-something years old. They didn't even ask me. Go ahead and get mad at me. Say what you want, but no." Read his quote, because it seems pretty obvious to me. There is no mention of his dad, and I don't see him giving much of a s*** in here either.

Loaiza21
Bonds is the most self centered player outside of Sammy Sosa.

SweetJfour
Do you seriously think he would air his personal family business to the public. Everyone knows his father is terminally ill, and should have respected him enough to not ask him why he's not participating. It's quite obvious to me. If I was in his situation and asked the same question, I would have replied as sarcastically as he did! We all know Bonds doesn't and never has liked the media. This is all coming from someone whom doesn't even like Barry Bonds. I apologize if I assumed this was obvious. Apparently I gave you too much credit

Steff
For the record... I've met him and I like him as a person and a player. He's never had an issue with talking about his personal matters before - perfect example when they were here playing. And I doubt he would start now. If my assumptions are incorrect than you have my sincerest apology. I don't want to get into any arguments with the Subway Sisters! Damn straight you don't!! It seems Barry doesn't want to participate in the derby because of Sosa's comments that implied he may have used a corked bat (to put on a show for the fans), but he never said anything about not playing in the game from what I've read. Everything I have heard from Barry has zero sense of humor to it. He just saids what he means. And he has never seemed to have a problem doing it. SweetJfour
Barry strikes me a fairly moody individual. Before he started chasing that record, he wouldn't even talk to the media. Then you couldn't get him away from the post-game press conferences. Now you can tell he's getting a bit sick of it again. Besides everybody snaps and says something completely sarcastic at some point in their lives.
