maggsmaggs
Hudson pretty ridiculous so far: 6 innings, 0 hits, 1 BB and 12 Ks. He is a gem dandy.
JPN366
I hate rain. Plus, B'ham got swept in J-Ville.
ChiliIrishHammock24
12 Ks for Hudson in 6 IP? Damnn. I have no clue who he is as I pay no attention to anyone not named Danks, Beckham, Silverio, Cook, and maybe a couple others I cant think of ATM. Has Hudson been doing well the whole year, and does he have any future with us?
Marky Mark
Yeah he's done well in his brief season, ERA is just over 3, great k/9 ratio. Sox got him this year as our 5th round pick. He has a history of being a strikeout guy in his college career. Had a bit of a down year for school in '08 compared to his '06 & '07 years. No idea as to what kind of stuff he has, but apparently it can be pretty nasty if he's getting this kind of strikeout rate throughout his career. Sometimes when a guy has a good fastball in the rookie leagues they seem to get tons and tons of Ks but have the ability to get knocked around with ease in the upper levels when they don't have good secondary stuff. (I don't even know what his fastball is at or what kind of movement it has, that's just a statement about rookie leagues). We'll see how Kannapolis treats him next season. Great Falls is fairly elementary, so you don't want to get too excited too early, however he should be on your radar. BearSox
Hudson has a very good fastball with tons of movement, which sits around 92 mph, IIRC. With the amount of movement Hudson has on his fastball, 90-92 mph would be plenty fast. I have also heard he has a nasty slidera as well, although I have not seen that pitch yet. If he doesn't make it as a starter, with his stuff, he could possibily be a SU guy.
ChiSox_Sonix
Has Jon Link blown a save in 3 straight games now?
scenario
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 07:02 AM) Has Jon Link blown a save in 3 straight games now? I think so. He's having a bad month. (0-3; 6.92 ERA; and over half of his blown saves for the season have come this month). Too bad. He's had such a great year otherwise... not the way to end it. He had 3 blown saves at the beginning of August. Now he has 8. They started bringing him into games in the 8th at first, that's when he got off track. Then they were trying to get him the save record. So, I think either himself or the coaches are pushing him too much. Hopefully he'll get his focus back for the playoffs. The Barons need him to be lights out again.
DBAHO
I'll start getting excited about Hudson when he does well in high A ball. SaberScouting had him pegged as a future set-up man, due to his lack of a quality 3rd pitch IIRC (only the fastball / slider combo).
