QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 09:16 PM)
It happens...we've been playing close games for a long time now. I was thinking yesterday that we could have easily been on a 12 game win streak.

actually the number of times weve been blown out this year is pretty low...i guess thatll happen with our pitching, but there was a stretch to start the year where we had gone like our first 50 games and it seemed we hadnt been blown out more than once

Agreed. A healthy pen and this club is up relatively comfortably. A healthy Count and even more comfortably. But all teams have to go through injuries and I can accept a game like today. Every once in a while your gonna get the s*** knocked out of ya.

That Ray series hurt because they should have swept.

Since there's no longer a catch all thread I'll just put this here.

Carlos Quentin's line for the month of August is .338/.480/.714/1.194

So what do you think? Should I just start making the banner now?

Probably. Alexei had one hell of a month too but it doesn't even compare to Quentin.

i think the twins and rays are the sox kryptonite at this point, if i remember we split against the angels in their park, and lost 2 really close games at the cell.. i think danks pitched one of those games, and was pretty good

look at non-turf teams records on turf, it's hilarious the advantage the rays/twins have in their home parks, except for texas (and their grass is damn near turf-like) and i think LAA, pretty much every AL team struggles on turf

.302/.306/.552/.858 w/ 6 HR, 21 RBI and 1 BB for Alexei

That's actually by far his lowest monthly OPS since May.

.339/.500/.610/1.110 w/ 5 HR, 11 RBI and a 19:9 BB:K ratio for Konerko though that's only in 82 PAs.

I am starting to think that the rotating line-up may be hurting this team. I have no proof of this but I just think that those guys that are getting the days off should then come out and hammer the balland they are not.

Guillen was talking after the game about needing a day off......they were off last Thursday during a homestand.

I find no comfort in that loss and the fact that they split a four game series in Baltimore. They need to take two of three in Boston or swwep the Indians as the Twins road trip is going to end the same time this road trip ends and that daylight they are looking for is not there.

The only problem is we lost 2 games in Balt this week. That doesn't cut it with the competition about to get tougher. We will win one game max in Boston, folks. I don't think any of you will disagree with me on that.

I completely disagree with you on that. I think White Sox take 2 of 3. Unlike you, I believe in the White Sox, and I have all season long

Why would you think that??? What makes them so good?

I'm saying we take two out of three from Boston. I really believe we are flat out better than them now that they no longer have Ramirez.

I wouldn't say we are better because Ramirez is gone. Bay is actually outproducing Manny and is currently the best hitter on their team - and he plays defense too.

We can beat Boston because we are a better team.

I believe we have a good team with potential of being great. We just split with Baltimore. Yes I feel we will win one max in Boston.

Bay is outproducing, but he can in no way scare other teams like Manny did. While Bay is good, Manny is one of the best hitters of his generation. His bat in the line up makes Ortiz twice the hitter that he is without Manny. That being said, I think we are the better team with or without Manny, especially with Beckett being out for a while.
