chosk8
Yesterday's pregame had Bruce Levine reporting that he asked Konerko point blank if he would accept an minor league assignment and was flat out told no. I lost a ton of respect for Konerko because of this very selfish remark.
DonkeyKongerko
No accountability with this team. Everyone is in denial. KW thinks we're the f***in 2002 Angels, Manuel thinks we're starting a 10 game winning streak tomorrow, and Konerko thinks he belongs on a major league roster. Queen Prawn
That disappoints me a great deal to read that, but after being shuffled back and forth in his first two years and never getting a chance, I can kind of understand why he might not want to, but if it gives him a chance to get his swing back, why not? He has hip displexia, or something that sounds like that. It was diagnosed while he was a catcher in the Dodgers organization.
rafacosta
I read something on the Tribune that a reporter asked him to go to the minors. He needs to go to the minors in a hurry and we bring Ross Gload in here. Definetely, he wouldnt hit .183 and he is LH.

The guy hit .194 for the Cubs and .258 for COL playing half of his game at Coors Softball Field. He is a career .226 hitter. I don't think he is the answer to our problems. But he is hitting so well in AAA. What you think if we give him a chance? I think Carl should be our DH, no way CF, and mix Rowand and Harris on CF. Put Carl in LF sometimes. We won the Cubs and Twins series with Harris and Rowand playing.

Honestly in the line up I think we should be using, we don't have room for him. 2B Alomar CF Rowand 1B Thomas RF Ordonez DH Everett LF Lee SS Valentin 3B Crede C Olivo/Alomar (Catchers on a Olivo 4 days a week, Sandy 3 days a week rotation) Bench LH Daubach Harris RH Konerko Graffy other catcher This balances our defense, and our bench, without killing the line up too much as basically Rowand is replacing Daubach, who are hitting pretty similar right now. chosk8
This could be considered minor assault. Why am I getting hit about the head with a hammer? I'll admit I was playing a little dumb about he hip thing, but why is this the only web-site in America that seems to have information about Paul Konerko's hip problem? I still think that PK's numbers are terrible and he needs some time in the minors. He needs playing time to get his stroke back. Right now we are competing for pennant and not developing, fixing players' problems. IMO, PK's hips is fine, this is a bad excuse for his s***ty performance. Like I said, this is the only web-site/message board that I have seen that talks about this hip condition of Paul's. If I had seen it elsewhere or heard more people talking about it, I would be more inclined to believe it, but as for now, with all due respect, I take it with a grain of salt. You obviously don't visit a lot of boards then. WSI has dozens of threads about it. AOL does as well. WhiteSox.com's boards, too. MLB.Com, ESPN.Com... they've all talked about it. Dick Allen
I think the fact that Konerko, who has as much pride as anyone, wouldn't go down to get some extra at bats, speaks volumes. He knows it would do him no good. Everything is fine with him except one thing, and that hip is not going to be fixed in Charlotte.
IlliniKrush
He has two options: 1. minors 2. dl if he is hurt i'm sick of a worthless body on this 25 man roster. suck it up and either admit ur hurt or go get at bats. personally i think it's both and the mental part can only be helped by going down to AAA, not a dl stint. Konerko's hip likely won't get any better for some time with the White Sox or with Charlotte. If he would go down to Charlette for a while, at lest his roster spot could get filled with someone that might help us, because he sure ain't. If his hip improves he could always come back up later on. (If his hip is this bad he should be on the DL.)

If this is so widely known, why has it not been out in the media? There are a few columnists in this city that would be screaming for this guy to be let go if his hip was in that bad of shape. southside2k3, I like that line-up as well. He and the team have been questioned about the hip several times, and everytime he has denied there is anything wrong with it. If they admitted there was this hip problem, the Sox would be brutalized for giving him $20 million this past off season. So it is kept quiet. Plus there are many privacy issues regarding injuries, just look at Williams with the Bulls and how very little information was going out on that. If the White Sox and Paulie don't want his condition out in the press, it won't be. You don't drop off that fast when you're 27 years old unless there is something physically wrong. Loaiza21
I'd say Konerko to AAA. Bring up Rivera.
chosk8
A .185 BA might indicate that there is a drop off in his abilities, but he has always been slow and looks to be no slower than he was last year. His defense at first base is still good. As far as his hitting goes, he still hits the ball on the nose quite a bit, but it just happens to be at somebody. When you put good swings on the ball and you hit it at somebody, I call that a slump and believe that is what is going on with Konerko, albeit a long one. A stint in the minors to regain his confidence is what he needs.
elrockinMT
Nothing is wrong with Paul Konerko's hips, Jerry Manuel won't be fired, Kenny Williams is still the General Manager, etc...
