Jordan4life_2007
I'm starting to think your sig is accurate. I don't agree with "bad" team. But definitely average.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) I'm starting to think your sig is accurate. I don't agree with "bad" team. But definitely average. The overall resume of the division winner won't be bad. But the AL Central Champion will be BY FAR the worst playoff team in this league. Bad is a relative term.
fathom
Five straight good starts from our main 4 pitchers. At least it's not 2006 where a quality start was a myth.

G&T
Luckily the Twins lose which is really great because they still have to face Cliff Lee. I'll pretend that the Sox lost because of the late games and getting in late (even know that's probably not the case).
jphat007
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 08:47 PM) The overall resume of the division winner won't be bad. But the AL Central Champion will be BY FAR the worst playoff team in this league. Bad is a relative term. I was just gonna argue a lot with some big post about the Dodgers and Mets/phils/brewers. I guess I should L2read. Though I don't think we are a ton worse than the Drays at this point in time.
GreatScott82
note to ozzie Wasserman and Ramirez suck! Other than mop up duties, they shouldn't even come near the mound. Our pen ERA in September is over 6. Pathetic! We have a chance to gain ground and once again the bullpen wont let that happen.

whitesoxfan101
Well one thing is clear: If it's close and late, we're dead. Obviously the offense deserves some blame for their atrocious effort this evening, as 2 runs won't win you a lot of big games. But at the same time, if it's 2-2, 5-5, or 8-8, and the 7th inning or later, we're in trouble unless the starter is still in. Our only chance right now is to build up a lead of significance and hope the bullpen can only give up a couple of runs. That's a rough way to go, especially with all the injuries to everyday players, but it's all we have. Ozzie took Mark out an inning too early tonight, but with the way our offense and bullpen looked, I'm not sure it mattered all that much. claydude14
On a positive note, Dewayne Wise is still that dude! And yea, it's hard to get REALLY upset when the Twins lose too.

This looks like it'll be more of an army crawl through the jungle, with both sides struggling for survival, than a "race".
whitesoxfan99
The way I see it, any day that the Sox and Twins both play and the Twins don't pick up any ground is a good day.

Cali
Before it would piss me off when the Sox would blow a golden opprotunity to gain some ground, but the Twins are just simply running out of games... If the Sox can take 2 of 3 from them in the s***dome the division is theirs.... And once you get in the playoffs anything can happen. whitesoxfan101
I'm not sure who we can put in out of the bullpen. Wassermann and Ramirez obviously suck, but Dotel is obviously out of gas, it's clear Linebrink is VERY limited in what he can do because he's still hurting, Jenks can't be used until the 9th and even then he's struggling. Other than Thornton (who threw in both games yesterday, so I doubt he was available), who can we trust? Even Carrasco has started to come back to earth this month (9.45 ERA in 7 innings IIRC). JohnCangelosi
I think it would be a miracle we walk out of Yankee stadium with a split. And that's a joke to say that given how they have a mediocre team and are not playing for much. This isn't a playoff worthy team right now, even though I'd love to see them make it and who knows maybe catch lightning in a bottle... Whitewashed in '05
This bullpen is just terrible. My initial reaction to ozzie bringing in these guys is screaming at him then I remember we have no one else... We have a potent offense and a good starting staff, but our bullpen just blows. We kept our heads afloat without Linebrink, but its catching up now. BTW, Horacio better not be on this team in ST. The only outs I've seen him record were vs us... ugh which pisses me off more. Lets trade Jenks!!!!

greg775
Twins lost; we blow prime opportunity again to put some distance on this before the dreaded series at the Twinkdome. Our record is great; our team is weird. Can we somehow split this series?
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:12 PM) I wish I could link some threads from around this time in '05... We F'n SUCKED according to everybody if I recall..... That's a pretty weak comparision. We didn't have nearly as many injuries at this time in 2005, and our bullpen was about 100 times better.
