caulfield12
The same reason Manuel got a free pass on 2001, despite the terribly disappointing performance overall after the equally sad loss to Seattle. We lost David Wells and Frank Thomas, and that was all she wrote...not to mention the battery of pitching injuries throughout the minors and majors that year. For those who actually watched entire White Sox games after May/June 2007, the reasons Ozzie is given a free pass are too numerous to elucidate further. fathom
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 06:00 AM) Why you can't blame the 72 win season on ozzie? Do i really need to point that out? Having 1 guy in the bullpen, 2 sometimes 3 decent starters, an entire team in a hitting slump, etc. How is any of those things his fault? Thats like saying "well if the pirates had a good manager they'd be contenders". If the team blows/underperforms theres only so much a manager can do. Well, then when is it ever the manager's fault? Don't most teams that have a disappointing season have a lot of injuries and underachieving players? This isn't just for Ozzie, it's for everyone. southsider2k5
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 10:19 PM) Common knowledge that the Sox are a bad team? No matter what happens in Minnie they were not a bad team this year. This was a Jackyll-Hyde team, skitzo, but not a bad team. p.s. Please Ozzie, do not pitch Boone or Ramirez this series. If you do put them on the mound, it means we lose that game. The only way you see those guys on the mound is if we are getting our asses kicked. Disagree, one of them will pitch in an important situation sometime this series. I'd much rather it be Logan, as he's had some good outings vs Morneau in the past. On the bright side, at least Ozzie can't let Masset face Morneau.
southsider2k5
We have, in no particular order, Jenks, Thornton, Dotel, MacDougal, and Linebrink for late inning relief, not to mention Clayton Richard as a wild card. I just don't see a situation where we Ozzie would use Ramiez and Logan if the game was within less than 5 runs.
