These two things have to be said

We do not deserve to be in the playoffs and the twins are a better team.

Believe me. The old school people here know me. I am a die hard sox fan. I am also able to objectively look at things and right now.... that's where I'm at.

If we where to somehow get into the playoffs - we would probably be beat right off the bat.

The twins have a better shot of going past the first round than we do. They are a better team.

OK. That said.... mods - moderate me like always and merge this thread with another. You all know I just love being censored.

The Twins are not a better team. The Twins have our number. We needed to go into Minnie with a 4 game lead minimum, 5 or 6 which we could and should have done. Both teams have equally sucked all month. It's just that we had 3 games which were guaranteed losses, these past 3 games.

The Twins' starting pitching sucks. The Twins actually have a better chance of losing 3 in a row to the Rays than we do.

I'm not defending our piss poor performance of late. I'm saying BOTH TEAMS have sucked all month. It's just we had the guaranteed 3 losses there.

This is true.....if the Twins win more games than us during the rest of the regular season. If not, they are not. The Twins certainly are a better team than us in their home stadium. We are certainly a better team than them in our home stadium. The 2 teams have the same number of losses. If the Twins were a notably better team, they would not have the same number of losses as us. They would have held the lead before tonight. They are a bad team away from home. You might try to describe them as a better team right now than the Sox are. How do you define right now? Tonight? This home series for them? September? They are 10-12 in September.

How are the Twins going to do if they are in a playoff series? They do not have home field advantage. Signs point to 'they would get smoked.'

You must be drunk again.

I don't buy that they are a better team. A better team now? Or a better team minus an AL MVP Candidate, a starting 3rd basemen (I'm talking pain free) and a starting pitcher. We are without all that and still tied in the loss column.

How easily they forget,we've lost 4 quality players(Crede,Quentin,Linebrink and Contreras)and still we have a shot at the division, let me see how far the Twins go if we take away their MVP calibur player(Morneau),I bet they would have no chance...or put it this way,if you think they are clearly the better team,if these last 3 games were at the Cell,do you think they would ve swept us?No f***ing way,we would ve swept them, they aren't the better team...Go Sox!!!

The Twins are up a half game in the win column. So if you count the game Monday against Detroit as a win, and I do, there is a tie in the AL Central at the moment. The only time the Twins are better than the White Sox is when they play in the Metrodome and its all mental. The organization as a whole bows down to them there. They act like the Twins are the 27 Yankees and they are a 100 loss ballclub every time they go to Minneapolis. Its a very defeatist attitude and as soon as something goes wrong up there, its in everyones' minds. Quit the Twinkie praise White Sox. It has cost you plenty.

all of this home - away - injuries - before - after stuff is all moot right now in my book.

right now. we have been playing like s***. not just to the twins but in general. i'll be shocked if we get into the playoffs.... and i hope the twins lose every single game left and prove me wrong. i love being wrong. :gosox3:

The Twins are nowhere near the team the White Sox are. Put these games at a neutral site and watch what happens. We were 7-2 against these f***ers at our house where we played in a real stadium. It's funny that the Twins need a fast turf and high bounces to succeed while they bloop pop ups down the line. It works, but it's pussyball. Their style of play doesn't work in most baseball stadiums, that's why their road record sucks ass.

They're built perfectly for their little dome and turf, we're not. We're old, slow, and love to hit pop ups. We just don't match up well against dome teams period. It's not only the Twins. They're not better than us. We just suck at domes.

A better team no.

White Sox are a struggling team. Who have the ability to get hot and win some games.

since when.

when's the last time we were hot? my guess, more than a month ago. maybe two.

Ask yourself this. What would the Twins be without Justin Morneau?

That's what we've had to deal with for the past 3 weeks.

I pointed this out in another thread. Their offense leads the AL in runs score on the road. So as they are better at it at home, they just dont slap the ball in the ground and pray. Their pitching is Cy Young at home, and medicore away. That is why their road record sucks. Our offense more biased at our home park. Its real simple, their formula of putting the ball in play works, and ours of swing for the fences works from time to time and when the park is hot in the summer.

but here's the problem. another poster was correct - the twins are the better TEAM. they play as a team, score as a team, don't rely on home runs and have decent chemistry.

us? OC's made it painfully obvious that we've got clubhouse problems and attitude problems - something that he contributes to for sure. we don't play well as a TEAM, we can't execute even the most simple of plays (bunting, hit and runs, stolen bases for the love of god). We can't move runners along, we can't hit sacrifice flies. we're a team that has given up and we're a team of a bunch of individual players.

the twins are a bunch of nobodies (save Morneau and Mauer) who play as a goddamned TEAM to win some games.

The Twins actually hit way better at home. .291 at home, .270 on the road. They also have a .254 BAA at home, .295 on the road. It's that dome that makes them good.

Until this series the Twins have been wildly inconsistent as of late.

Us too but we've been hurt more by injuries.

The teams as they are right now...about even, just very different. I mean, that staff of theirs is pretty horrid guys. In road games that totally cancels out the execution w/ their bats.

The White Sox staff isn't exactly lighting it up. Danks and Buehrle have been good recently. Vazquez has been terrible, and Floyd's ERA seems to continue to rise towards the 4.00 mark.

It's a toss-up between whose the best team, but it can be seen that Minnesota has the better chemistry. It's just a matter of them executing and having things go their way (i.e. umps giving them calls).

Hell, for all we know, this series might start a streak that can put the Twins on a verge of being the team to beat come October. If previous season's have indicated anything it's that whoever gets hot in the last week of the regular season they are more than likely to continue playing well in the post-season. You have the '05 Sox, '06 Cards, and most definitely the Rockies to prove that.
