Dick Allen
He died Friday. An all-time great. He also gave back as much as any actor with his charitable work. A role model for everyone. Edited September 27, 2008 by Dick Allen
The Critic
Very sad to hear this, but he had a very fulfilling life. And of course, he starred in one of my Top Three movies ever, Slap Shot. RIP Paul.
Brian
Sounds like he was suffering the past few weeks. He is probably in a better place. RIP Fast Eddie!

That funky motion
Met him a few times, his race team is right down the street. He gave me the nose, wing and tires to an old Michael Andretti race car for my wash. Super nice guy, no attitude at all.
SleepyWhiteSox
"He was smiling... That's right. You know, that, that Luke smile of his. He had it on his face right to the very end. Hell, if they didn't know it 'fore, they could tell right then that they weren't a-gonna beat him. That old Luke smile. Oh, Luke. He was some boy. Cool Hand Luke. Hell, he's a natural-born world-shaker."

Middle Buffalo
"When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home. I was wishing I looked like Paul Newman—he looks tough and I don’t—but I guess my own looks aren’t so bad." -- Opening sentences from "The Outsiders" Paul Newman had so many great roles. Anyone who hasn't seen "The Hustler," "Slap Shot," "Butch Cassidy," etc. should make it a point to see them. He was a great actor. Good looking without just being pretty. Tough without being a muscle-head. And, by all accounts I've seen, a humble, great guy. He took advantage of his star power to help others without making himself the story. Yoda
His life-time dedication to the film industry was truly a blessing. He was always a likeable character in whatever role he took on. Whether it was cowboy, prisoner, hustler, or grifter, he gave the effort of a very well dutiful man. In other words, he did not disappoint. Hollywood has lost a good one. May he R.I.P Edited September 28, 2008 by Yoda
