QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 02:42 PM)
As dumb as this sounds if the Sox don't need to win tomorrow I'd like to see Richard pitch. No real reason why, I just would.

If we win today, tomorrow, and tuesday, i'd seriously consider him starting game one of the playoffs.

does it scare anyone else that our playoff hope will be solely in the hands of Danks? don't get me wrong, he's been great for us this year, but such a young kid? and he had a bad outting last time out, his confidence might not be there. I still think hes better than Javy 'big-game-no-show' Vasquez imo

No matter the situation, I can't concoct a scenario where I think the Sox don't need to win. If they get to play at all, the best case is not having to play the Twins Tuesday. I guess if you say "they're not eliminated if they don't win..." But still.

thats pretty bold, but does have some startegy to it. teams probably won't have a good scouting report on him, and if he comes to pitch, who knows what could happen

It scares me a lot more that we're only up 2 runs in the 7th inning.

why wouldn't we need to win tomorrow?

Because they could play tomorrow and not have to win to play Tuesday and the way the brillant 3 day rest thing is going I'd rather have a fully rested pitcher going Tuesday then to rely on the atroucious bullpen both days.

Oh and the best game pitched in the last week and a half was by Richard.

I have more confidence in Richard giving us a better chance to win than Vazquez.

It does sound dumb, because there is no scenario where the Sox don't need to win tomorrow.

technically, it isn't a must-win tomorrow, as if the Twins lose and we win today, we're up by a half game

we lose tomorrow, division would end in a tie, resulting in the tiebreaker game

this is all technically speaking of course
