mreye
I rarely start threads, so if this has been said, screw off! I am so proud of the fans last night. The "blackout" was outstanding and should become an every game thing - like a college atmosphere. I absolutely love a crowd that gets going every time there's two strikes and they didn't disappoint last night! Did anyone else notice what was supposed to be on Comcast during the Sox postgame? A: The Cubs Rally replay. I had a good laugh at that. How many freaking Viagra commercials do they have to play? I think I was singing that damned song in my sleep last night! shipps
The Whitesox fans were obviously great last night but there was a couple Twins fans seating behind me that pissed me off. They seemed to have some knowledge of the game but they completely tried to provoke sox fans into starting with them and then they got pissed when people would take the bait. They said we drove all the way from Minnesota you should respect us for coming,Sox fans are so disrespectful.IDK I guess that just comes with the territory of baseball games but my respect level for Twin fans went down a notch with that one. Yes I noticed that and also noticed the TBS post game was sponsored by Captain Morgan. I mentioned both in the Winners thread. WCSox
QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 06:10 AM) The blackout was completely awesome. It was surreal. I felt like I was watching a Raiders game. But it was cool in the sense that it was something new and unique to this season. I got the sense that Sox fans had stopped mentally clinging to 2005 and had forged a new identity with the current team.

I agree, I mean its by no means a new idea (Heat, Jazz) but it just really gave people something to focus on in getting revved up for the game. It looked like there were like hoards of locusts swarming throughout the stands when everyone was waving their black towels... very very cool I would disagree that it should be an every game event, I think it keeps it special if we do it when were in a big game and can get the crowd going EARLY to give us an extra advantage. JMO, but I think it would be cool if the Black Out returned to the Cell on Sunday. And hopefully several more times this month.

I took every game to mean every game, not just playoff games. For a post season run, yes keep the blackout theme going. For a sunday game between the sox and mariners in july... don't. bmags
The blackout was a special treat for me. It was cool that everyone around me could see how dedicated sox fans are. Plus don't the heat pass out shirts and stuff? This was just a special night last night. I love me some white sox.
Harry Chappas
The word I used for the blackout last night was ominous I think that's how it is spelled. I left work to go to the game and did not bring anything black in the mornign as I was not aware of the plan. I had a navy blue jacket and gray shirt. I felt left out but oh well.
