DBAHO
This is something I'd like to see for the playoffs. Griffey moves up to the #2 spot to replace Wise in the lineup, and Swisher hits below A.J in the #8 hole. Griffey has a .260/.347/.405 line since joining the White Sox, so he's got a pretty decent OBP, and only a 25/17 K/BB ratio. I think he would do a solid job there, and offer a bit more balance to the lineup. Do people think this would be the best option if Wise was moved out of the lineup? I'd much prefer Griffey hitting 2nd than say Brian Anderson.
Soxbadger
Well generally you wouldnt want a slow guy in the 2 hole because he cant score on singles etc and would need multiple hits to get him in. The Sox may be the exception to the rule though as Thome, Konerko, and Dye are all as slow as Griffey so its not like hes going to be clogging up the base paths or significantly hurting the Sox's chance at scoring. I dont think the Sox would do it, I think that they will use the line up we saw yesterday for the most part.
greg775
It's got to be Swish or Wise No. 2 to go with OC at leadoff. Call me crazy but I sense Oz isn't going to stop playing Wise. If he's going to switch back to Swish the time to do it is now, in game one with the move certainly natural based on Wise's hitting of late. I think Wise is being penciled in Oz's lineup right now. I think Wise is Ozzie's leftfielder the rest of the season.
Sox It To Em
I would be all for this. Give one of your better hitters more ABs.
Balta1701
ANYTHING to get Wise out of the 2 hole. Remember in 06 how Anderson and Uribe were just terrible in the 8-9 slots? Try taking one of those guys and putting him at #2. That's just how bad Wise has been lately.

daa84
the dewayne wise experiment has to stop and IMO swisher will benefit greatly from being in the 2 spot...He'll see better pitches to hit, see alot of pitches for the big boppers (nobody in baseball sees more) and he'll get on base more than AJ or wise would for the HR hitters in the lineup...i know the .219 is a killer right now, but as boers and bernstein were saying on the radio today, his BABIP and line drive % suggest his been horrendously unlucky

Swisher needs to hit at the top of the order for the protection of the middle of the lineup. Once AJ started struggling he should have been plugged in there

witesoxfan
It's way f***ing better than Wise. I'd prefer OC-Swish-Dye, but whatever the hell gets Wise out of there works for me.

knightni
How about Ramirez #2?
Kalapse
QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) How about Ramirez #2? Ozzie said he didn't want to put that kind of pressure on Alexei during a playoff race, why would his opinion change now that we've made it? You'd also be moving one of your best run producers into a non-run production slot in the lineup, a place where he has to give up ABs and take pitches that he'd normally jump all over, something Alexei really shouldn't be doing. So in other words; not a good fit.
Lemon_44
anything to get Wise out of the lineup is fine with me. So he had a couple big hits a couple weeks ago,big deal, he now has reverted back to form. Get him out of there. In the playoffs,i'm a firm believer of play your best players and there's no doubt Swisher is a better player than Wise.
