southsideirish71
Anyone want to tell our hitters to make Garza get it down. Not to swing at the 97 mph fastball at the chest. You cant do anything with it.
caulfield12
Well, all things considered, we're pretty fortunate to be only down 1-0. Garza seems like he's throwing well, but that 96 MPH four seam fastball is pretty straight...it's his slider/cutter that causes so many problems. Still, very glad to see both Bartlett and Garza out of Minnesota.

BigSqwert
For someone chasing his first championship Thome has not been coming through in the series. But who has?

Not to swing at the 97 mph fastball at the chest. You cant do anything with it. Wish it was that easy. That is tough pitch to lay off when you have a nano second to make a decision. southsideirish71
QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 03:09 PM) Wish it was that easy. That is tough pitch to lay off when you have a nano second to make a decision. You realize that even with 97 they can judge location. Especially on a straight fastball. BlackBetsy
Jim Thome was a great player, but if he can't catch up to Garza's straight fastball, he's pretty much done as an offensive force. They will fastball him right out of the game. The Sox are without good fastball hitters right now.
G&T
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) they just don't seem to be hungry for it Hungry? Wanting something doesn't make you win. They're plenty hungry. The problem is that they have no plan and no clue how to win this game.
fathom
So get this....CB Bucknor was going to lose his job 5 years ago, and after being informed his contract would be torn up, he threatened to hire a lawyer on the basis of racial discrimination. That information is from some of his colleagues while in the International League.
