Best Sox Games

I am bored at work on a Saturday and no Sox game tonight . . . So I was just wondering what game (or games) you have attended that you consider your favorite.

Mine would be Thome's 500th home run game. Living in Michigan, I don't get to go to tons of Sox games like I would love to do. But last year I went to 5 games, 4 of which were losses. Then the Thome home run game, which I had tickets for since April 2007. I thought for sure there would be another White Sox loss, but then Thome's walk off blast. Just awesome.

My wife and I had seats right behind home plate, upper deck, but that has to be the best game I've been to. I would have loved to go to any of the Sox playoff games, but seeing a 500th home run is pretty sweet.

What cool games have other been to?

2000: Jose Valentin hits a walkoff single to beat the Yankees. (The Sox then went on to sweep the Yankees at home and in New York!)

2001-2002- Dont remember much. A couple of Maggs walkoffs, some Canseco and Wells action, even some Todd Richie. But for the most part, those years sucked.

2003: Sox beat Cubs on a Valentin walk off homerun

Sox beat Twins to take a 2 game lead (Colon pitcher all 9 innings!)

Frank hits his 400th HR! That was a fun game, i remember getting a flat tire on the way home haha.

2004: Sox beat the Cubs, then aqcuired Freddy Garcia that same day!

In 2005 i went to a lot of games:

1) Crede's season saving walkoff homerun vs Cleveland in september.

2) Game 1 of the ALDS vs Boston

3) JD's walkoff homerun vs the Angels in May

4) Timo's walkoff single in May

5) There comeback win vs the Dodgers, by playing small ball- that game in on the WS DVD!

2006: Opening day of MLB, when they unvieled the World Series banner!

Went to a few games in the 1st half when the Sox just dominated. Then saw a few loses as they collapsed in the 2nd half.

2007: The lost season that i refuse to think about.

2008: Swishers grand slam game vs Dempster and the Cubs.

Double header wins vs Detroit (D-Weezy's grandslam)

I've been to soooo many games, but that 1st playoff game that i ever went to was really special vs Boston in '05. It really set the tone for the postseason that year. Also, Opening Day 2006 was electric!

Im hoping i can add to my favorite 2008 games this year. I won the raffle for getting tix for the ALCS!

1. Game 1 of the ALDS versus Boston(by FAR the loudest the Cell has ever been, not even close)

2. Game two of the ALCS versus Anaheim

3. Game 1 of the World Series

4. Buehrle's No-no

Five would be a tie between JD's walk-off against the Angels, 2006 Opening Day, Valentin's walk-off against the Cubs(me and Great Scott have been to a lot of the same games...), Carlos Lee's walk-off granny against the Cubs, and watching Jose Valentin hit for the Natural cycle.

Game 3 will hopefully make the list.

Game 1 of the WS in 2005.

Game 2 of the WS in 2005.

Sox game in 2004 where Sox beat Cleveland on the road 14-0 with Buehrle throwing a 2-hitter and facing the minimum.

The "AJ" game of 2005. Nuff said.

Sox/Cubs in 2000. sosa ties the game off Foulke in the 9th, Sox win it in the 14th.

Every Sox home game left from mid September on, 2005, the 2005 ALDS home games against the BoSox, and games 1 and 2 of the 2005 ALCS against the Angels.......

I came back to Chicago from L.A. for the first time in 26 years then, for a neighborhood reunion, originally for only 2 weeks, but stayed an additional 2 weeks, coming back to L.A. on Oct. 15th........

Got a childhood buddy who does, and still does, Sox Levy Restaurants Security, and got me into all of the games for free, even the playoff games, all at the Stadium Club level.........

As a 44 year lifelong White Sox fan, it was like being in Heaven, with the sold out crowds, the winning atmosphere, everything, just f***ing awesome.......

Sox @ Cubs in 2005 when Patterson dove for that ball in CF when he didn't have to, he dropped it which gave the Sox the 4-3 lead, then Dye hit a solo HR in the 8th or 9th to cap it off.

Tigers @ Sox this year when we went down 8-6 in the 14th and Swisher walked us off, off of Zumaya.

Cubs @ Sox in 2003 (I believe) when Valentien hit that walk-off off of Alfonsucko.

Royals @ Sox this year when PK hit a walk-off in the 14th.

Twins @ Sox- Black Tuesday.

Angels @ Sox- game 2 of the ALCS.

Hmm...

I don't get to many sox games, went to a bunch in 05. Saw JD's walkoff v. the angels the day after? Timo had that single for the walk-off.

I remember one half-price monday game against the indians. We were up 8-0, they went up 9-8, we then tied it. Then in extras, Jose Valentin hit a walk-off home run. That was fun. I've seen a bunch of Crede walk-offs. One was a grand slam v. the tigers.

The games I saw in 07 were BRUTAL.

Saw a CQ homerun v. I think the Angels this year. It was a good game.

A few I remember, with help from baseball-reference.com:

June 8, 2001 vs. Cubs. Carlos Lee walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 10th. Sox win, 7-3.

May 6, 2006 at Anaheim: AJ Pierzynski pinch-hit home run in 8th off Scot Shields, game-winning RBI in 10th. Sox win, 4-3.

September 13, 2006 at Anaheim: Freddy Garcia took a perfect game into the 8th, Sox win, 9-0.

2005 ALCS game 3 at Anaheim: Jon Garland CG 4-hit win, 5-2.

2005 World Series game 1. Rocket runs out of fuel, Cotts and Jenks strike out the side in the 8th. Sox win, 5-3.

August 10, 2006 vs. Yankees: Vazquez battles to beat the Bombers, at least one E5 from Slappy McBluelips, Ozzie got tossed arguing a flagrantly blown call by Eric Cooper—motioning safe before Giambi even touched the bag, Konerko had the tag down and on him. Worst-umpired game I remember, but Sox still won, 5-4.

August 13, 2006 vs. Detroit: Swept the Kitties and at the time it seemed the Central was ours. We were on top of the world. Sox win, 7-3.
