Would kill for a better CF solution though. We're in the best division for Cfs and all we can come up with is BA/Wise? *puke*

Steve9347
Yeah, I really think Furcal would fit well on this team and should be Kenny's top target. I'd presume he could play 2B?

I'd presume he could play 2B? Furcal began his professional career as a second baseman with the Gulf Coast Braves in 1997, but switched to SS in 1999. I wouldn't be suprised if we simply had the Missle play 2B for 2 or so more years until Beckham's ready. Kalapse
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Why move him? He's good at SS and Ramirez has done GREAT at 2B. No he hasn't. He's been mediocre at best. He's made a few great plays but overall he's been below average at the position and I don't blame him, he's never played 2B before. HuskyCaucasian
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) No he hasn't. He's been mediocre at best. He's made a few great plays but overall he's been below average at the position and I don't blame him, he's never played 2B before. He's had a few "out of position" plays. But in general I think he's done terrific. He's still learning. I think his ability to turn a double play makes it worth keeping him at 2B if we can land a solid SS. Steve9347
I'd much rather have Furcal play 2B and move the future to his more natural and better fielding position.

You're essentially replacing a guy who has put up OPS's of .865 and .973 the past two years with guys with career OPS's of .655 and .638. daa84
if somehow we signed furcal, id have to seriously question the decisions of our management if he played 2b and not ss...
Kalapse
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) He's had a few "out of position" plays. But in general I think he's done terrific. He's still learning. I think his ability to turn a double play makes it worth keeping him at 2B if we can land a solid SS. He also can't handle of relay throw, has shown surprisingly poor range and has booted more than his fair share of ground balls. His arm is his only above average fielding tool at this point and that would be better utilized from the SS position. Having a well above average arm does not make him "terrific", it made him passable. That being said, he's still learning the position and if the Sox acquired a SS I'd have no problem leaving Alexei at 2B.
BigSqwert
Anyone else think we need to make a deal for a decent CF? What we have will not do.
santo=dorf
It's nice to have a high OPS if you arent a station to station runner. ..and you can have the speed like Bolt, but your .650ish OPS still won't get you a full time job or be a good baseball player.
