I think Iam finally a true Hawks fan

Recommended Posts

This year I have been determined to watch the Blackhawks religiously.Never in my life did I really get into hockey but last year I watched a little bit and found the young Hawks team interesting and fun to watch, but never had felt angry or on edge while watching like I do with the other Chicago sports teams. The first two games this year I felt pissed after both two games with them losing and it made me feel like I have become a true Hawks fan that is gonna live and die with this team.

For the Hawks guys out there, what are the players that I should keep an eye on besides the obvious ones like Kane and Toews? And who is presumed to be our biggest competition this year?

BTW,I know you long time Hawks guys are probably shaking your heads thinking Iam a typical bandwagon fan but I really dont give a s*** I consider myself a true fan none the less.

Glad you are joining the fold shipps!

Kane and Toews are the obvious ones you will want to follow as they both had great rookie years.

You will probably want to keep an eye on these guys:

Brian Campbell - Big offseason splash. Great offensive D-man who should really help the powerplay.

Pat Sharp - Potted 36 goals in a real breakout last year also playing well on the PK. Many will wonder if he can build on last years success.

Dave Bolland - Currently the #3 center getting a chance to prove he belongs on the big club. Showed some promise and played very well in the lower leagues.

Brent Seabrook - This should really be the year Seabs comes in to his own (I hope). He is a very solid D-man. D-men usually take a while to develop and he could turn the corner to be a top D in the league this year.

I'm sure others will have lists of who else to keep an eye on.

I was into the Hawks in high school, and into 2002. Went to a bunch of games that year, including the great playoff loss to St Louis, 5-0. Since then, I just haven't watched much, be it no home games on TV or whatever. Watched most of last nights game and will try to watch tomorrows.

That is a guy I was really expecting to stand out ,maybe I cant evaluate performance in hockey cause I havent watched it that much but he had less than stellar performance from what I seen in the first two. There were some analysts that were saying he is the best hockey player on the ice for the Hawks through practice and the pre season.

At best, he is an average defender for a defensemen. He can throw the occasional big hit and make some decent plays. However, his real gift is on offense. That is where he has looked pretty good so far.

Yeah well then I seen it right,a defender who wasnt doing a good job at defending.lol

So is that like Hockeys equivelant to an outfielder that sucks on D but makes up for it with the bat?

That's a pretty good analogy. He isn't like the equivalent of Manny Ramierz bad on D but he could certainly step up his game in that regard.
