bigruss
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) Meacham sucks and Davis has been terrible lately. Ive never been a fan of Meacham, and was really surprised how well he contributed early in the season, but its been clear that he is in a major slump and/or isnt good. As little as Legion has proved himself to be all that much better, I think he needs to get the majority of minutes over Meacham. Legion has the chance to be the best shooter on the team, and we need him desperately to step up into that role.
dasox24
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) No one gives a s*** about women's basketball. But the damn Illinois game on. Haha, I go to Tennessee and I don't even give a s*** about women's basketball. And we're dominant (except for this year).
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 5, 2009 -> 08:36 PM) i dunno wtf is up with this team. they can't buy a bucket to save their lives. They are a classic first weekend and out NCAA Tournament team. They beat up their non conference schedule, which was pretty weak (although the Missouri win looks great right now, but the Clemson loss really stings), and have defended home court and struggled on the road in league play. That's just what teams like that do, ESPECIALLY this year where teams are struggling on the road even more than usual it seems. The good news for Illinois is after tonight, their road schedule is at Northwestern, Indiana, Ohio State, and Penn State. Going 2-2 in that should be expected, and 3-1 is even possible in my opinion. Although with Sparty, Purdue, Penn State, and Minnesota still to visit Champaign, I doubt they win all of their Big 10 home games. Illinois is fine, they are an NCAA Tournament team, just not a Big 10 Championship team. I am satisfied with what they are, we knew this season wasn't going to be idea with the current roster and I think Bruce and the players have done a nice job, assuming they don't collapse down the stretch. It's all about the future with the recruits coming in the next two years (and likely beyond), and this year has been a good building block. whitesoxfan99
Legion and Meacham both suck, hard to win when your 2 guards can't score.

Jenksismyhero
i knew this would be a loss. just a bad time to go up there when the offense can't shoot worth s***.
whitesoxfan99
It would be literally impossible to get less production out of the 2 guard spot than Illinois is lately. It is getting ridiculous and unlike the Minnesota game Meacham is consistently getting wide open shots and bricking them. It is sad to watch. fathom
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 03:25 AM) i knew this would be a loss. just a bad time to go up there when the offense can't shoot worth s***. I talked to my friend who used to be a team manager for the Illini, and he said that the coaching staff despises Legion and he'd be surprised if he stayed in the program after this season. Jenksismyhero
i can't believe that to be true. weber isn't the type to lie to the media, and he gushes over legions potential. nor do i think he'd let that type of information out even if it was true. whitesoxfan99
BTW..last year Meacham averaged a little over 10 pts per game in Big 10 play and made just under 40% from 3. This year he is averaging 7 pts and shooting 29% from 3 and that is counting the Indiana game where he scored 21 pts and went 7-9 from 3, I don't even want to know the numbers without that game. I remember complaining about Trent's shot selection (80% of his shots are 3's) a few weeks ago. Nobody (not talking about anybody from this board) wanted to hear it because he was shooting so well. But you knew those shots weren't going to keep falling at that rate. And Trent is worthless if his 3 isn't goin' down.

I don't really understand the rivalry personally. There are tons of fans that make a huge deal out of anything Kansas. I've only been to one basketball game and none of the football games. The football games are when I'm in the Chicago area for Thanksgiving break. As for basketball, freshman year (the Moody game) I was on a date which went longer than expected and I deemed that more important lol and last year I just drove in from the end of the winter break and slept through the game. Shows how much I care, but you are right about the culture.
RockRaines
Hard to win every game in the Big Ten, especially on the road in tough arenas like that. Edited February 6, 2009 by RockRaines
Soxbadger
I think last nights game was more of a "It cant rain all the time" game for Wisconsin. They got hot, Illinois went cold, just the law of averages after losing 6 straight games where half the games Wisconsin could have won just with a little better shooting. Now if they win the next 8 games maybe theyll make the tourney. Edited February 6, 2009 by Soxbadger

I certainly don't want to lose, but they canceled our work on Monday for the game, and I was pissed, because I'm poor.
