farmteam
I'm not sure exactly how to describe today's game. I mean, 88-50 is pretty much the type of score I expected, so it's not really bad, I guess? I dunno. I have a feeling the whole season will feel like this. There's no reason to have anything that qualifies as expectations this year, because all of them will be failed. Just need to remain alive until the start of '09, with the reinforcements coming in. JuiceCruz16
I was glad to see UCONN cruise as I just couldn't resist laying the 5 points they were only favored by. I usually don't play hoops, but that seemed like a gimme. Kansas with the Morris twins did play well, that decommit they made from Memphis really was a blessing for the Jayhawks. My Tarheels had a glorified scrimmage, last night but it was good to see Ty Lawson look sonfident with his three point stroke. If he can make the stides in that area that Ray Felton did in his third season with UNC he may become a much more dominant force much as Ray did in their title season. On a sour note Bobby Frasior looks like he can't throw it in the ocean at this point(solid dee though ), hopefully he can shake off the rust and be able to knock down some threes or Larry Drew will be a larger factor as the primary backup for Ty. Soxbadger
If you watched the whole game then you know for much of it Wisconsin was within 5 (they had it at 1 and missed a 3 pointer). Wisconsin just did not have anyone who could successfully dribble up the court besides Hughes. When Hughes hurt his ankle in the first half Wisconsin was up a few points, but Hughes went to the bench and they needed to bring in a true Freshman in Jordan Taylor to handle the point. With the Uconn press it was just a recipe for disaster. I dont really think any game this early in the season is a "gimme" because teams are to inconsistent in terms of level of play. Well they had it around 5 until about 4 minutes left in the half then UCONN spurted to double digits. "Wisky" made one run early on to cut it to 1, but Uconn quickly pushed the lead to around 10 and maintained there for a while until they built upon it with about 5 or 6 minutes left to give me breathing room from a backdoor cover. You are right though there are no such thing as a gimme, but that one was fairly comfortable. The pressure did stymie "Wisky" and Thabeet just locked down the drives to the hoop. knightni
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) And it's funny to see Indiana and ND travel 3,000 miles to play each other I didn't expect Indiana to be so poor. They showed the whole arsenal in that game. Showed the amazing offensive firepower, but especially late, their inability to do anything resembling guard people almost cost them. The firepower can win them the vast majority of their games though, and that's a heck of a win, a neutral over Texas, and will help them seedingwise in March. Rex Hudler
I see this year's Indiana team as a group of 4th graders trying to play against the 8th graders at recess. They keep getting their asses kicked, but they keep coming back for me. Pretty soon, you start to root for them even though you know they have no chance. This team will be scrappy and play hard. I can admire that. We'll just see for how many 30+ point losses that lasts. lol
Buehrle>Wood
Curry held scoreless...and Davidson wins by 30. They were double teaming him when he was out on the perimeter even without the ball.

They were double teaming him when he was out on the perimeter even without the ball. Indeed, it was the "triangle and 2" defense taken to the extreme. I'm curious if a team with superior athletes could try that against Davidson and be able to recover in time against the other players. Probably not, but it would be fascinating to watch. Curry took it in stride though, only tried 3 shots in 32 minutes, very unselfish.
Palehosefan
Notre Dame vs. UNC tonight. Should be a good one. Outside of the Hansbrough vs. Harangody battle, you have a couple of set of brothers on each side. Too bad Ben Hansbrough and Tyler Zeller won't be able to play though. I will be interested in seeing how the Carolina dee holds up against the high powered Irish. They have been superb so far, but Oregon and Kentucky may just be fools gold. Perimeter dee has been a weakness the past few years, but it has been impressive thusfar. This game should be uptempo from the tip off, it should be fun. whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) I'm excited to see if Harangody will finally show that he's as good if not better than Hansbrough. I've never understood why Harangody doesn't get the credit. I would guess Hansbrough has had the better career, but overall they are pretty similar: hard working, goofy white guys that put up HUGE numbers in part because of skill and in part because their teams score 80 plus a night. To me, I can't see one and not think of the other one. Should be an excellent game tonight. And WOW, Indiana is even worse than I thought. Chaminade had a decent look at a 3 that would have won the game, but the shooter gagged on it and left the ball well short, and the Hoosiers win 81-79. whitesoxfan101
QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 26, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) Greatest upset in basketball history. I was thinking of this as I posted my comment actually, and that Virginia team turned out fine obviously. However, it doesn't change the fact that an already perceived (accurately) awful Indiana team barely beating Chaminade makes it seem more likely that this will be without question the worst basketball team in IU history, or at least recent IU history.
