Brian
QUOTE (ScottPodRulez22 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) No they wouldn't in fact they'd have less of a chance then this year. The BCS schools don't need strong non-conference games to get into the NCAA tourney. So why would they play a good school in ISU when they could play an absolute dog and destroy them? Garbage. SIU has played good teams in the pre conference based on their past success. Have gotten invited to good pre conference tourneys as well. Brian
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:47 PM) and everyone holds them down from getting into the tourney by not playing them. There is no way they should not have been in the tourney last year with an RPI at 32. Yet for some reason BCS teams with RPI's in the 70's got in. I wonder why. It's a shame that the only way in is winning the conference tourney when mediocre BCS conference teams get in. It's all about money and ISU doesn't bring it. Maybe if they showed up against Drake in the MVC finals, they would of made it.

kjshoe04
QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:50 PM) Maybe if they showed up against Drake in the MVC finals, they would of made it. One terrible loss. They were still 23-8. Second in the valley. Beat CU and SIU both twice. RPI 32. Yet Kentucky with it's wonderful losses to Gardner Webb and San Diego gets in at 18-12 and a RPI of 59. Its all about the money and reputation. BCS schools hold down the smaller conferences by not playing them. It's the way it is. We got a game against Indiana last year, had a bit of success and now no one will play us. Have gotten invited to good pre conference tourneys as well. Yeah, getting invited to a good pre-season tourney is not chosen by a BCS school who fears losing to a midmajor. That tournament's committee would chose the school. And yeah its not impossible to get a BCS game if your from the MVC, but it's hard. What I'm trying to say is a BCS school would rather schedule a BCS team so it doesn't look bad if they lose, or a team they have no chance of losing against. Instead of scheduling a team like ISU where if they lose it could be looked at badly. It really can't be argued against its a known fact about the current state of college basketball. kjshoe04
QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) that was exactly my point, thanks SIU has the reputation though. It doesn't look as bad to lose to SIU as it does ISU, even this season.

Heads22
LOL, just watched Iowa blow a 51-38 lead in pretty epic fashion.
