Balta1701
I find it to be a good thing that there are a lot of new faces on that list.
Steve9347
They don't even bother with this pointless award, so why should I bother caring. I highly doubt Maddux's old, fat ass was the best fielding pitcher in the NL this year.
Marky Mark
McLouth wins the award the same day Bill James announces he is sabermetrically the worst fielder in his position.
Steve9347
QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) McLouth wins the award the same day Bill James announces he is sabermetrically the worst fielder in his position. I love it.
whitesoxfan101
McLouth winning is a joke, a classic example of winning the gold glove with your bat. I think all of the other first time winners (Phillips, Victorino, Gonzalez, and Molina) are quite deserving though, especially Phillips and Molina. Dick Allen
AL picks P Mike Mussina, C Joe Mauer, 1B Carlos Pena, 2B Dustin Pedroia, SS Michael Young 3B Adrian Beltre, OF Torii Hunter, OF Grady Sizemore and OF Ichiro Suzuki. Cabrera's calls to the press box didn't pay off, although Young is a horrible selection for a GG.
GoodAsGould
Michael Young is definitely one of the worse SS's in the league, MLB really needs to re-work the way these rewards are decided. Right now its a joke and even most casual baseball fans could tell you that.
sircaffey
Michael Young is almost as bad as Jeter. This is pathetic.
MHizzle85
How exactly are gold gloves awarded? Like the voting process, who actually votes? This has turned to the most overrated award in baseball.
sircaffey
Michael Young - 27th ranked SS in plus/minus (-7) Nate McLouth - 35th ranked CF in enhanced plus/minus with a lovely number of -40 Edited November 6, 2008 by sircaffey
Dick Allen
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) How exactly are gold gloves awarded? Like the voting process, who actually votes? This has turned to the most overrated award in baseball. I think managers and coaches vote. Considering the flak fans get for their ASG selections, I don't think these guys have done any better with their GG voting over the years. Milkman delivers
I think I can agree with most of these picks. I disagree with Maddux, McLouth, Young, and Hunter.
