southsider2k5
2002 was a fluke for the Twins. I said it in the off season that almost everyone on that team had a career years that were no where near their normal outputs. now they are all coming back to earth. It isn't a big surprise to me. Sounds a tad like us in 2000 and the Royals this year. Indians/Tigers AL Central champs in '04?
DonkeyKongerko
Sounds a tad like us in 2000 and the Royals this year. Indians/Tigers AL Central champs in '04? The Indians do scare me. They have some serious young talent if they can it all together. Brandon Phillips, Josh Bard, Ben Broussard, Travis Hafner, Coco Crisp, Milton Bradley, Victor Martinez, Casey Blake...not to mention those young pitchers from the Colon deal and the rest of the staff. These guys are gonna be good SOON, so it would be a good idea for the Sox to do something NOW.
witesoxfan
KC doesn't scare me as much as our 2000 team would have. KC hasn't gotten as hot as that team did, and they haven't played as well as that team did. Their bullpen has been crappy at times and their offense just isn't as good as ours was. The starting staffs are probably comparable, with KC's being slightly better though. 75-85 wins could possibly win the division....sad, but true. Everyone is waiting for the Royals to crash and burn, just like everyone was expecting the Sox to do in 2000. It didn't happen in 2000, and it's not going to happen in '03. If the Sox want to be AL Central champs, they are going to have to win it -- not expect and wait for KC to lose it.
