Steve9347
QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) Now that I know the trade is legit, I will say that PEDs was not the only issue Swisher had off the field. For his sake, I hope he cleans up his act. Yeah, I'm guessing a nasty coke habit!

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 13, 2008 -> 03:53 PM) Nah, but i can see Betemit being a good deal better than Crede has been since his back troubles set in. Betemit will be more than tolerable, he won't be 2006 Crede certainly, but he'll be more than adequate assuming his bat kicks in. I can agree with that. Crede in 2007 and 2008 was just not the same guy on defense. Which made me sad, as I really loved watching him play over there before his back issues just got too much. BigSqwert
Swisher might be the most overrated Sox player since I started following the team in '83.

I don't like these types of sweeping statements. If he gets hammered every night, it doesn't really matter... but the way that statement was written, as fact, without anything to back it up, was a joke. Ozzie and the Sox demoted him in the order and he lost playing time at the end of the year, he got slammed on this board. He has a fun personality that people enjoyed. IMO Oz missused him. He will likely never hit for a crazy average.

One of the benefits of a board like this one is that there are some people who have various connections to people around the league or around the team, so we can occasionally be privy to more rumors that may have a level of truth. It's however up to each person to decide how much they want to believe. If a person makes a statement like that, then they feel like it's information that other people might be interested in but they don't want/need to reveal their sources since it's just a bloody message board.
