D'Angelo Jimenez is batting 413. in the AFL.....

Josh Stewart has a .83 era in the AFL.....

Did anyone realize that the MVP of the Southern League Aaron Miles.... has now qualified for Free agency having played for 6 years?

Out of the all the current minor leauge studs, who do you guys think is ready yo make an impact some time next year? (ex. Malone, Stewart, West, Diaz, Rauch, Valentine, Munoz)

Why did we re-sign Mark Johnson? Does this mean we are gonna suffer through another year of below average catching?

i did realize that miles was coming up on free agency at the end of the barons season.....it would be a total waste and shame for us to lose him....but of course hes a good player so it would only make sense for kw to cut him loose right.......out of your list of studs there i honestly believe that valentine and rauch are the two who will be ready to make the biggest noise.........ive seen west in action for a few years now and hes nothing to scream about really....nor is stewart... havent paid much attention to munoz and diaz.... and isnt malone hurt or recovering??? i thought i remember that for some reason........could be wrong though.....as for us resigning mark... well were f***ed once again at the catchers spot... they should have just dumped him and paul and gotten us someone a bit older with a little more experience for olivo because he will be our future catcher..........johnson was a waste of money.........

Malone is recovering.... Munoz and Diaz are going to be something special, and I believe stewart can be also..... Then we get to Mark Johnson....I think the only word that can truly epitimize MJ is *Yawn* or possibly *Double Yawn*

i found this on sporting news murc.. hope it can shed some light to your johnson question .... lol.....

The team agreed to terms with C Mark Johnson on a one-year contract, but he is viewed as a reserve. If rookie Miguel Olivo shows he can handle the starting job in spring training, either Johnson or Josh Paul could be traded or sent to Class AAA Charlotte. . . .

Jimenez is not playing in the AFL, he's playing in some Mexican/Venezuelan/Puerto Rican league.

Sanders has an almost better ERA than Stewart, I believe.

Rauch will make the rotation, he'll be a good canidate for ROY. Expect Diaz, Stewart, Munoz to get Sept. callups.

It's obvious what the MJ signing signifies. Remember when Paul played OF in the HOF game? Rowand is injured, so that mean Paul will start in CF.

VERSITAILE!!!!

I believe we resigned MJ as a result of Billy Beane. He told KW he was interested in MJ for Lidle or what not, so KW signed him so he was signed "when" he went to Oakland. Lidle was then sent to Toronto.

We take on $200,000 more than we were going to go into next season with. Big f***ing deal. Maybe we'll get lucky and trade him. He does play pretty good defense, but that's about it...

MJ's offense makes me wanna :puke

Plus, I'd rather have Mj as the backup then Paul. MJ is a better catcher behind the plate and thats what you want out of a backup.

Speed wise we'll already have Willie Harris on the bench and probably another outfielder so they won't need Josh Paul.

Olivo is entering spring training as the starting catcher. Its his job to lose and I like that mentality. The kids going to get his shot. As will Jimenez and Crede. Borchard would, but he's obviously not ready.

I'm just hoping Rauch will, the guy is going to have a great rookie season.

Ya. I think the guy is capable to pitch at the majors now. Some guys aren't ready and will struggle as they grow. I don't think Rauch is that kind of guy because he appears to have good control and has the confidence and actually does pitch inside.

Typically when a pitcher comes up, especially a college pitcher, they are more afraid of pitching inside and also tend to lack the command. When I saw Rauch last year he threw strikes and was very sucessful throwing the ball inside and jamming hitters. With his long stride he gets good downward action on the ball which makes it even tougher for the batters to hit.

Keep in mind this is at 90 mph or so, and he should gain at least 2 mph on his typical fastball by next season.

His curve ball is plain old nasty and he can throw it for a strike as well as an effective ball. An effective ball is a pitch you can throw out of the zone that will either a, make the pitcher chase or check it, or b position the pitcher to watch for one pitch to set them up for something the opposite. In this case, it is the pitch used for chasing.

The thing he will have to improve on the fly is his changeup as well as slider. Both are maybe avg pitches, but if he can develop them into avg pitches that he can throw, then he will be set. He seems to be able to throw a good slider and change, its just the fact of throwing it as a strike as well as gaining confidence in it.

That will happen with time.
