BearSox
I'm a bit worried that Toca is his trainer. IIRC, Toca got suspended for steroids while he was with our minor league team.
Kalapse
QUOTE (Cali @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 09:47 PM) Yeah, he doesn't look overweight in that video at all, he just looks HUGE, and like he wants to mash some baseballs. \m/ Ozzie reiterated today that Viciedo needs to lose weight. DBAHO
So it's basically 5M for this season with the signing bonus, and then 1.25M in 2010 and 2011, and then 2.5M in 2012. Will offer us some payroll flexibility for the next couple of seasons hopefully.
caulfield12
So KW was pretty correct in stating that the trade for Swisher essentially was... thus, Betemit, Marquez and Nunez, substitute Viciedo's signing bonus for Swisher's 2009 contract >>> Nick Swisher (2009, and beyond)
ThunderBolt
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) So KW was pretty correct in stating that the trade for Swisher essentially was... thus, Betemit, Marquez and Nunez, substitute Viciedo's signing bonus for Swisher's 2009 contract >>> Nick Swisher (2009, and beyond) I still hate the Swish trade, but it does comfort me to know that KW had a larger plan in mind. SouthsideDon48
Anyone wanna speculate on what jersey number Viciedo might take? If he takes number 48, then that will just be sweet to have a potential impact player wearing my number. Hafner... Hunter... Viciedo? Keep the streak of worthy 48'ers rolling. ....Aint Soria in Kansas City wearing number 48 as well? I know Joe Borowski and Neal Cotts wore the number recently, too. SoxFan1
"...the 19-year-old now plans to start up his conditioning program in Florida with teammate and Cuban countryman Alexei Ramirez." He'll lose more than 10 pounds...
Dick Allen
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) "...the 19-year-old now plans to start up his conditioning program in Florida with teammate and Cuban countryman Alexei Ramirez." He'll lose more than 10 pounds... He's 6'1" 246 lbs. A scout said he lost 15 lbs. for his workout. Its something that will have to be monitored. 19 years old, going from Cuba to the USA with a lot of money isn't the easiest way to lose weight. caulfield12
Definitely has to stay away from McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, any pizza place and the local KFC/Church's/Popeye's/Brown's.
Cubano
Viciedo interview with ESPN Deportes: http://www.cubaencuentro.com/es/multimedia...-su-trayectoria He began playing at age 7. He is happy with the White Sox because they showed interest in him and also because Alexei and Contreras.
