morton got tossed around in the bigs this year....but one thing worth mentioning about his minor league stats....in his last 160 IP in the minors over the last 2 years....3 HR given up..thats absurd and something that certainly will help play at our park

Anyone think Morton sounds like Nick Masset? We all know how he turned out...

at very best boone logan will be a Lefty specialist in the majors...therefore im saying Morton for Logan part of this deal is at worst a wash....which leaves Javy for Flowers and Lillibridge which is a very even deal...sox got their stud position prospect in flowers and another young major league ready guy who will at least be a utility guy in the bigs along with salary relief...so if the idea was to get younger and cheaper and land talent in return...id say KW did a solid job...that said im not sure who will be our 4 and 5 starters but the offseason is still young

per chicagowhitesox.com

In return for Vazquez and another yet undisclosed White Sox player, Chicago will receive three players. The South Siders were given a list of five players and allowed to choose three. They were most interested in infielder Brett Lillibridge and catcher Tyler Flowers.

We all know your opinion on him....

He's a solid #3 pitcher who will eat up a ton of innings and strike out a lot of guys, but won't necessarily do much to help your team. He's a mental midget and he's terribly unclutch. Awesome on bad teams, really mediocre on good teams. That's what he is and pretty much always has been.

There is clearly going to be one move made for a ML starting pitcher whether via FA or a trade. But KW values SP more than anything else and will not go into the season with two question marks in the rotation. I agree with you though, this is a solid deal and Flowers gives us our new catcher when AJ's deal is up in a couple years. Our farm system has been upgraded a ton without getting much worse at the ML level. We are probably 4-5 wins worse right now than last year's team, but there are still moves to be made.

in my baseball world, I'll take Vazquez over Clayton Richard

Who wouldnt? Of course I will take the money saved on Javy and sign a pitcher that can put up similar numbers and still have money to spare to sign other pieces.

Interesting deal. It really makes me feel like another deal is about to be done, bringing another starter into the rotation. The question is will it be a big trade or a scrap heap reclaimation like Colon or Garcia for example.

The middle infield is now awful crowded, unless they are making Lillbridge into a CF. We are also accumulating a respectable minor league system, which means trader Kenny is about to go after someone, I think.

Meh paying for pitching via free agency sucks. More so, who is out there for 3 years or less who doesn't suck?

Lillibridge has pop, speed, and disipline. Plus, he can play SS/Cf.

Reyes was the #8 prospect in the Braves organization.

We're talking Javy here, not Peavy. We should seriously considering taking a deal built around these two players.

We are also talking a pitcher that K's 200 a year and gives you 200 innings. This isn't afire sale of Javy Vazquez because he mleted at the end of the season. I agree with DBAHO that we can do better but we don't have the full particulars yet. I figured Vaz would be traded and that's fine, but hopefully we get back good value

Garcia isnt coming here, and I dont think Colon is either. I would say there is an arm coming via trade to compete and another more pricey arm in a 3 year deal for 8-9 mil.

Is this the 1st KW deal that was reported and went through?

Don't jinx it. It hasn't gone through yet. Maybe Javy fails his physical tomorrow and we'd still be stuck with him...

The question I have is who Vaz's money turns into? Hopefully it's like the C-Lee/Pods deal where we got a couple of extra pieces with the $$. Unfortunately, I think the money sits and gets wasted.

The money saved on Swish and Javy is not going to sit and be wasted.
