Hopefully it's something of significance.

I'm going to bet it's not Furcal. One site said that the A's are offering a 4 year deal.

I would go near him for that length of a deal and his injury history.

You clearly don't know how KW operates if you expect to hear rumblings before a move.

Apparently there is still a mystery team for Furcal, over at mlbtraderumors.com. I have no idea if its us, doesnt make sense in a lot of ways, but does at the same time. He would fill the SS/2nb/CF base dilemma and leadoff spot yet KW says Alexei is the SS, and that the payroll is already over budget.

Signing Furcal does open a lot of options though, do you keep Alexei at 2nd, or do you move him to CF and put Getz at 2nd, or put Anderson in CF? Lots of options, but I dont see a four year deal for him from us.

I would guess the signing would be Taveras. It sounds like the Sox would get outbid on D. Cabrera (which is fine), with 11 teams expressing interest.

If you take Kenny at his word, they are currently over budget (presumably with Jenks arb raise factored in). Even a minor signing like Taveras at $3M forces Dye or Jenks to be traded. Given that, I'll be very surprised if the Sox make any significant FA signings season given their financial situation.
