BridgeportHeather
This may sound kind of off base here, but I think Everett is gonna play a MAJOR role up in here! In fact, I see him becoming a team leader. He's gonna play beyond our expectations, making KW look like a pure genius.
KipWellsFan
I'd really like to see Joe Crede break out, he's got a great swing. I think it can be only so long before he goes on a tear.
IndySoxFan
if rowand can hit his way into a starting job.... oh man... the places we would go
DonkeyKongerko
Something tells me Carlos Lee wants to refocus. He gets alot of heat for his DP grounders and occasional poor situational hitting. He has improved alot on his mental game this year I must say: His baserunning: He steals more than one could expect and rarely gets caught...Gets great jumps/reads on passed balls too. His fielding: Makes almost all the routine plays and a few fantastic ones a month. Is learning to play the caroms better and rarely misses the cutoff man even though he doesn't have the strongest arm. His hitting: Still has lapses where he tries to pull everything. The walk numbers seem to be improved and he seems to approach late-inning pressure ABs as well as anybody on this team. Seeing him go deep the opposite way against the Cubs was a beautiful sight too. Consistency at the plate is CLee's biggest problem. Then again on a given day he won't know if he's batting 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th or benched. He is a gamer and never complains about the fans or other team mates. Always is hard on himself when he makes a poor play. I understand that people want to trade him, he's shown himself to be basically this .270 hitter with decent pop. I, for one, will be sad to see him go. He is one of my favorite Sox players and a bright personality in a clubhouse where there are few to be found. Ok thats all for my salute to El Caballo. I hope 24 other Sox players also have a hot 2nd half...Maggs is lookin awesome lately too
Chisoxfn
I'd really like to see Joe Crede break out, he's got a great swing. I think it can be only so long before he goes on a tear. Crede is a winner. He isn't selfish at the plate and he has fast hands and good hand eye coordination. The key with him is plate discipline, and pitch recognition. Once he works himself into better counts and gets more experience he'll be really good for a real long time. I'm as close to sure on this as I get (knock on wood)
Texsox
On the pitching staff, since Mark has already turned around, I'm guessing that Colon is stepping up next. He's got to get in to position for the next contract. On the field I'm thinking Alomar. This is like the track I get 1A and 1B, they are linked as a betting entry Actually I'm pulling for Lee. From what I can see from far away he has one of the best attitudes on the team and I'm hoping it catches on.

Big Irish
Posted on Jul 14 2003, 08:34 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- if rowand can hit his way into a starting job.... oh man... the places we would go I agree with this 100%. Aaron Rowand need sto be in the line up everyday. He plays solid D and if given a chance, will be great a the plate. I don't know what else he has to do to earn the job. I hope they figuer something out for him before he gets pissed and wants to leave.

The turnaround for Paulie is already underway. R Alomar will prove the Met's PbP man right and become a big disappointment for the White Sox too. Crede will hit .035 points higher in the second half and double his first half HR total. Everett will be extremely average in a White Sox uniform. MB will finish the second half with 6 more wins than he had in the first half and finish a game or two above .500 at seasons end. Colon will go on the DL. Maggs will be en fuego and finish the season with 45 HR's and a .299 avg. Of course, if the Sox don't get their s*** together, we may have to check some of these predictions at seasons end on another MLB messageboard . AND FIRE MANUEL!!!!! Guest JimH
If Jerry gets fired, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. I don't think he's the greatest manager, or the worst. He's pretty much just "ok" in my book. The bottom line is that on paper there's a lot of talent on this team, and it's underachieving. They should have the same record as the Royals, if not better. It's an embarassment they are 7 games out right now. The bottom line responsibility is, of course, on the players. But they've changed coaches how many times now? Sooner or later, an underachieving team = unemployed manager. By the way, what was with him yesterday, having Garland pitch to Milt Bradley with 1st base open?? You just gave their best hitter a chance to beat you, and he did. Good thing Bradley is the lazy slug he is ... he should've scored the go-ahead run. DonkeyKongerko
Is some Fire Jerry stuff really going on this time? I'm seeing an inordinate amount of people who claim to have rumors from "inside". Is it the real deal this time? About damn time I'd say. On those other boards they are throwing the name Jim Fregosi around alot.

Texsox
Yep fire Jerry and we would be 7 games out in front (sorry I couldn't get green to work Jerry may not be the best manager in the AL but focusing on him takes the focus from the guys who aren't getting it done. Obviously I'm not a big JM fan but I believe without him we would still be in second place, only a little closer.

Guest JimH
I don't think KW has, or had, the authority to fire Manuel. Maybe in some other organizations the GM has that authority, but I don't think so here. If Manuel goes, it'll be a "party line" firing ... JR, EE, Hemond, all the way down (or up!) It has to come from higher up, right? KW is basically just a figurehead from what we've been hearing (reading) these past few months. Guest JimH
What I'd find really funny is if they brought in Tom Kelly to replace Manuel!!!!!!!
