I saw on another Sox fan website that the Chicago Tribune is reporting that DJ will be working with Ed Farmer.

Anyone think this is a good idea.. I was hoping for someone like Black Jack to get the radio gig.

Pratt did an interview with Black Jack and IIRC he said he wouldn't take on a full time booth job.

After talking with various outlets, Darrin Jackson has agreed to return to the White Sox as a radio analyst. Jackson had worked the last nine years in the television booth but his spot is being taken over by Steve Stone, joining play-by-play man Hawk Harrelson.

"This has been my home," Jackson told the Tribune Saturday. "Farmio (play-by-play announcer Ed Farmer) is a friend of mine, and we're going to have fun."

Jackson, 46, had explored possibilities with ESPN, MLB.TV and others before informing Sox officials of his decision to return.

The Sox's spring training move from Tucson to Glendale also was attractive to Jackson, who resides in Chandler in the off-season.

"There were a lot of interesting things going on," Jackson said. "But now I don't have to mess around. I'm staying in Chicago."

I'm glad DJ is staying with the White Sox.

Is it wrong for me to vehemently dislike Hawk for no reason other than the fact that DJ lost his job and Hawk didn't? I've always been a fan of DJ and I was always extremely annoyed with Hawk.

I actually like this. I think DJ is good, but he and Hawk never mixed together right. I think the chemistry between Hawk and Stone (not to mention Stone is great) is going to be fantastic, and I think DJ and Farmer will mix well, especially with their senses of humor.

Oh yeah? Well then I got two words for ya.......

It's because Hawk sucks. DJ was always good when he did Fox Saturday games. Hawk brings him down with his terrible, terrible play-by-play. If Hawk wasn't such a complete homer, he'd have been fired long ago, by any organization.

Totally agreed, and I'm happy DJ is staying with the Sox.

I've grown to like DJ. He is much better when he is not in the shadow of Hawk. I think I'd prefer that he be the play by play man with Farmer providing his analysis on the side. DJ only lacks a good homerun call. I really like UH-OHH. It's like an inside Sox thing. Anyone else listening would be like, uh-oh what? We of course would be pumping our fists and putting one on the board. Glad to have DJ back. It didn't seem right for him to lose his job, but Steve Stone is one of the best.
